Another 'card game that plays like a boardgame' from Adlung, publisher of similar games like Verrater. A quite good game with a knights of Camelot theme. A steal for such a low price. The graphic design deserves special mention - it is excellent.

Played once, had a good time. The game seemed very constrained at first, but it opened up once people started moving out of Camelot.

Rating based on one play with 2 players. The game is a lot tighter than I expected. It definitely has a strong boardgame feel to it despite being a card game. Nice art, nice setup and a lot tougher decisions than I expected from it. My son (the big fan of knights in general) thought it was great.

Liked it. But it seemed pretty tough with four players. The theme is great, though.

Update: Bumped up to an 8 from a 6, after playing with 2 players, rather than 4. 4 was frustrating. 2 was nice and thematic, but a bit too easy. I think 3 might be the sweet spot.

This one is really interesting : some planning is needed, combinated with tactical decisions. Looks like this could be another decent Adlung game next to Meuterer, Zauberschwert and Vom Kap. The games are very close and the tension is enlarged by the fact that you can't really do a lot with only 3 actions.

3 plays. This will probably go to an 8 because it is a nice, solid game.

There may be a problem with quest hoarding. Or any hording for that matter. But my sons and I are too polite to play like that. LOL.

Just two plays, but it already impresses as the type of game I'd like. It is a touch fiddly, though, as you push cards all around the table. I'm OK with that, but others may not be.

A nice little game with a very strong theme. We play with 2 players which goes quickly. You need to plan out your entire turn (4 moves when playing with 2) at one time, sort of like in Elfenland. The rules are much clearer than most Adlung games; the artwork is also nicer.

I'm surprised that I hadn't heard anything about this game. This is a wonderful light and quick version of some of the older clunkier King Arthur games. Lots of color, great sense of advancement, with fun quests and tournaments. Overall, this captures the theme well and offers a nice variety of options without getting bogged down by many of the details that the older games suffered from. I suspect that my ratings will go up.

Played a few times (with 4 players). A very nice little game, which manages to do more with 60 cards than some real board games. It is rather light, but there are interesting decisions and choices to be made.

I think this is a great little game. I have only played once with 2 players. I took out the cards, and then set the game up. That's easier said than done because the tiny reference cards and minuscule instruction text does not make that easy. After setting the game up, I felt I needed a break, and eventually had to push to get the game played. If I put the game away without playing it, it might not have come out again. Fortunately, this game shares something other than a publisher with Meuterer because once you get past the overly complex instructions, there is a basically good, simple game here. I really like the questing and training mechanic, and like how it feels like you are always just short of getting the most out of each turn. I lean toward giving it a slightly higher rating, but then I think about having to read the setup instructions again, and the rating comes right back down again. I need a good setup and play guide!

Interesting choices and a fairly good theme (jousting, quests, etc). Definitely plays like a board game. After reading the rules I thought the game would be too chaotic but it's suprisingly elegant. Decent with two but seemed almost too equal (each player should score about the same number of points each round) would recommend 3 or 4 players, to make scoring more difficult and to add tougher decision-making.

Finally played this after owning it for two years. I love Camelot and knights, so I'm pretty much a sucker for any game that purports to implement that theme. However, this little six-dollar pack of cards really packs a punch. It's a race to get to a certain number of points (depending on the number of players) by winning tournaments, spreading knowledge to the country folk, and fulfilling quests. First, you have to decide if you're going to go for scoring fewer points more often (tournaments and peasant-teaching) or if you're going to save up for the more infrequent but bigger points (quests). Then, not only do you have to plan your moves as efficiently as possible (you get three actions per turn) and be able to quickly reroute when someone takes the action card you needed, but you also have to keep an eye on your opponents and decide if it's better to take an action to block them instead of doing something to further your own cause. A good, medium-weight filler with stuff to think about. Also, it's just a deck of cards, so it's a good travel game (though you need a fair amount of space to set up the "board"). Can't wait to get it to the table again.

UPDATE: Played it again, this time with four players. I still liked it, but I didn't enjoy it quite as much this time. I think it's a little too tight with four players. I liked better it with three--seemed like there were more choices. I'd like to try it with two sometime. Also, I think I like it better as a warm-up game than as a winding-down game.

Very nice game. You need to juggle taking 2 turns to complete a quest (2-5 points)vs. scoring the tournament(2) or book reading(2) each turn. With either strategy you will need to switch to the other strategy every couple of turns.

It doesn't exactly capture the flavor of Arthurian legend, not in the way that Camelot Legends does, but the game is much more accessible to those without a CCG-playing background. There isn't anything in the way of special powers here---it's very much a German-style game---but the drafting mechanic works very well, and the re-allocating of the tents (changing of player order) according to who leads balances the game. An enjoyable, light outing which ultimately gets played more here due to that factor.

I started being a fan of the adlung games with Meuterer. A deck of card that can be played just like a boardgame. That is a turn off for some players, since many of these games, including this particular one, require quite some space on the table to be played. But you can simply take it anywhere you like and it fits anywhere you like. And although being small, many adlung games are fairly comlpex games. This one is no exception, it might even be a bit confusing for first timers to this game (even experienced players), but once you played a round you get the idea, although it requires a few more plays before you start getting the hang of it. The questing, tournaments among two players, in all a good game as all I got so far from Adlung. Spot on once again

A good attempt at creating a single-deck card/boardgame that fits in your pocket, requires little space to play, and yet provides a meaningful game beyond a mere filler. For those reasons, this works as a gamers' travel game too.

A typical Adlung-Spiel game. Like a boardgame only using cards. Alot of setup space required. Games can get rather flat and abstract. Collect this, move there, battle this. Repeat until winner is determined.

Adlung-Spiele often comes out with interesting card games that play like a board game. This is one of those games. Choose actions to train your knight and then complete quests. The trick is, the actions are limited and less of each then there are players. Sometimes you need to get an action but just can't. Nice little game & simple with a little player interaction and even a little jousting.

The directions are a bit of a challenge to get through, but game play is actually fairly simple. Perhaps too simple; I never really felt any great challenge while preparing for quests or any thrill upon completing them. That said, the artwork is cool and ebb and flow and timing of the game - when and how long to continue collecting some of the limited resources vs. deciding to go into the countryside and spend them to complete quests - is pretty interesting. In reality, it'd probably be a mediocre board game, but I love that a somewhat meaty game has been produced in a very small-box card game format here, so price point and small packaging bump this up a tiny bit in my rating. One of Adlung's better offerings and absolutely worth the price.

Played it once... hm, for me it is a little too 'straight'. I mean, that I guess that you can play it good and/or bad. Very little - quiet no luck at all. And yes, that is something I don't like so much in a *game*.
Beside that - puh, the setup was tough - but I enjoyed this 'choose your actions' mechanics.
The components are really nice and it is astonishing, how much of a game you can do with 'just' a deck of cards.

Great game for 5 euros.

One endgame change suggestion: If someone gets 20 VPs, let all players finish the round. If players tie for 20+ VPs, the first player who accomplished that wins. However, if a player goes above 20 during that round, he will win instead. This is so players aren't juggling to be last place before the final round begins.

In this card game, cards make up the "board," and players get to "draft" which action cards they want to use at the beginning of each round. Even though it seems like there are many possible actions, it didn't feel like it during the play. The rules are pretty sound, and the gameplay isn't bad, but the game didn't excite me in general.
