Palmyra is one of my favorite Knizias (which is saying a lot). It's very simple but excruciating. Three players seems to be the sweet spot. I thought I was pretty good at this game until I played with a friend who happens to be a broker: he amassed a final score with which I was not familiar. [25 plays]

Really fun, but very light stock manipulation game. Plenty of "take that" action. Would make a good family game for a family that can handle a little screwage.

I prefer this relatively simple, yet remarkably compelling ec0nomic game to some of the more intense brain burners on the market. It recreates a market system in simple terms and is still fun.

Great reimplementation of Palmyra. One of my favourite games, hands down. Scales very well from 2-4 players too!

terribly simple stock market game, it really has just 2 or 3 rules and this is why it is so great! it is straightforward to understand what is influencing the market and u can just enjoy the process of exploiting it. it feels so much better than more convoluted games where ur action influences the market only very indirectly. it is a great game for everyone, immediately explained and enjoyed. I think it is very very underrated.

Simple to learn, especially for a game that roughly simulates the free market system at work. At times it feels like you're in an unspoken alliance with other players. I'd imagine there aren't too many games involving selling vases!

One of the shortest market games with enough strategy. Tax card may be a bit too strong.(like "=" card in Modern Art)

Have now played The Motley Fool version, which features stocks with different characteristics -- some more volatile, some more stable with higher dividends.

I think this is a cool market economy simulation. As things become scarce, the price goes up! Just don't bump the table, because those top heavy amphorae will end up all over the place.

Palmyra - Fast game of commodity trading. I think I like the 3 player game more than the 4 player, because there is a bit more control. Its not a flashy game, but you need to pay attention to what the others are doing.

Great little financial management game that plays quickly but has plenty of strategy. Very confrontational in game play as you are trying to hinder your opponents' progress while improving on your own. But plenty of fun, and the bits are sweet.

One of my favorite filler games. It's such a simple stock market game, but very relaxing and easy to play without thinking too much. For added fun, create a fourth market with five card slots in front of it. Any color card can be played to the slots to affect this new market.

"Buy low" is better than Palmyra in every aspect... Nice stock market game with a kind of extended "Flinke Pinke"-feeling. More influence and tactics with 2, more "realism" (chaos) with more players. Pity, that Uberplay went out of business: if you can get a copy of this game, hurry up!

I like this game. I have played 2 and 3 player and it seems like the years end too quickly. I may try playing the 2 player game with each player using maore cards (playing the number of cards used in 4 player game).

very simple auction game with lots of math! The game plays easily in 45 minutes to 1 hour.

This is a good, solid Knizia game. Like many of his games, we were a little luke-warm on the game the first couple plays, but by the 3rd it really took off for us. So many of Knizia's "distilled mechanics" games are like this, with the true fun at first obscured by what appears to be overly simplistic gameplay. If the game seems overly simplistic, play it a few more time, preferably back-to-back, and the subtleties of manipulating the relative stock-values will really start to become apparent.
