Great game of making plans and then having them fall apart due a minor error. Then planning better the next round only to have your opponents muck things up by behaving in different ways than expected (probably because of what they thought YOU were going to due). Nevertheless, everyone still manages to have fun.

I have not played the highly similar game called "RoboRally" (which supposedly was NOT the inspiration behind this game) but this is a great example of how much more economical Looney Pyramids are. So many great games can be played for less than the price of a single purpose game.

Great game, light, but enough strategy to keep you interested. As others have pointed out, it's very similar to RoboRally.

OK, as a computer programmer, it's tough to pitch a game which is allegedly about writing computer programs to one's non-computer-programmer friends, but this is really a fun, cleverly designed game. And we've seen a number of surprising, funny games where the bozo in last place gets lucky outwits everyone and steals the win.

Definitely one of my favorite IceHouse games. Very similar to RoboRally, although it is better and worse in interesting ways. I find the programming more enjoyable, but the lack of space, extra gear components, and restriction on numbers of players is a downside.

The lack of board elements (like conveyor belts) makes this very different than Robo Rally. Knowing which colour takes which action is not too complicated, but it's not as transparent as playing action cards.

A good competitor to the Roborally style of programming bots and hoping for the best or worst for your competitors. This is the game that I prefer of those two because the time length is more predictable and not likely to continue forever. Having players as possible targets is an interesting twist that makes for a dangerous environment. Since your possible actions are open before programming this definitely maybe feels a little less chaotic. Despite that comparisons between the games are inevitable, there are enough differences and it's not just a clone.

I used to play a lot of RoboRally, and now I prefer RAMbots. RAMbots doesn't risk dragging on too long, and its rules are more pleasing and elegant. Both give the fun core experience of "program your robots and then they run automatically, amusingly messing with each other in unexpected ways, and amusingly sometimes simply misprogrammed by their owners".

This is what RoboRally should have been. If it was its own game with some production value for the pieces I'd would give it a much higher rating.

Played once. It IS similar to Roborally, but a bit quicker playing as well. It's got programming, but the whole game seems streamlined. If you've got enough pyramids to play this, give it a shot. I don't think I'd purchase the Pyramids just for this game, though -- there are much better games such as Homeworlds and Zendo.

Fun simultaneous-decision game with some very nifty mechanics. I especially like being able to tag other players as well as the flags; that adds an extra element of player interaction. A bit chaotic, but it's all player decisions, so while there's doublethink, there's no card or dice screwage.

There are enough differences from RoboRally that this is no mere port. The race path is less linear and the style encourages and rewards confrontation. (A few points of damage in the first turn can be highly debilitating!) Executing program registers and determining priority are different enough to confuse a seasoned RoboRally veteran. The learning curve is steep enough to merit a couple of learning sessions... one might not be enough.

Solid RoboRally inspired game. No fighting-the-board involved, entirely about player interaction. I'd like to see a game somewhere between the two come out.

The upside:
-Programmers should love this.
-Since there's not many games out there who use this kind of "thinking ahead" gimmick, it comes as a refreshing thing.

The downside:
-Can be mostly chaos.

Clever, underrated little Icehouse game that's very similar to RoboRally (and even preferable to it in some regards.) Moving the flags can be fun, and not relying on random cards for movement makes it more strategic (and the code pool mechanic is undeniably clever). Attacking opponents to add to your movement pool gives more incentive to be nasty.

I like that this is a stripped down, simpler, quicker version of RoboRally. The only drawback is that it's easy for the board to get crowded and cramped in a hurry, even for a three-player game. I'd hate to see how it worked with four players....

Roborally but not as long, just as crazy. I realy enjoy the priority system, it actually adds a lot of dimension to the decision-making. Maybe moves should only be programmed 4 turns instead of 5 turns ahead, would remove some unecessary chaos.

Finally got to play this, a 3-player game. I like the way it works and the unpredictability of where the other players will be by the time your move occurs. I'll need to play some more to figure out how strategy works.

This little battle game has you planning moves, and then getting to opponents. It has an advantage over Robo-Rally, in that you need to tag a piece of the correct color, which may be another player as well as the becon "Flag". It is fiddly because the programming terms and order change and are iconic to your piece orientation, color, and size. I find it interesting as a warm-up to Robo Rally, but I much prefer Robo-Rally.
