The absolute classic game in Western civilization.
You can enjoy it even if your level of play is not very good; the only drawback is that the gap in skill between the players is not too high, if not it kills the interest for both players. It can be played in various formats : rapid chess (blitz), casual play and problems solving. One particular and unusual use of the chessboard is the retro-analysis problems : you only need to know the rules in order to try to solve puzzles. A real blast if you like logical puzzles! I strongly recommend the book "The Chess Mysteries of Sherlock Holmes" by Raymond Smullyan)

One of the all-time great games. I wish I could find someone at my level. Very serious players are too good, and very casual players are not good enough.

Every gamer alive should own this one. No luck in chess, only error. Playing vs. a computer does not get the same rating though.

Fascinating game, although it requires a lot of study to play well. Most fun when you play someone of the same ability as you.

The best two player pure strategy game ever. The more you learn, the less you realize you know about playing.
