Great simple game with nice playing pieces, not boring for parents playing along with their children. Elegant mechanics, more tactical when playing with two pigs per person.

[LUP 11-Apr-2007] An excellent roll and move game for small children. If you roll a one you automatically get a re-roll and if your roll a black three and are currently coming last you also get a re-roll. This means that mostly everybody stays in contention. The you get to the really good bit, stacking the pigs. If you are stacked on top of somebody else and they have their go, you get a free ride. A big hit from three and up.

One of the biggest hits with my 2-year old son. A very good game for young kids--there is a bit of decisionmaking, but generally it's just fun to watch the pigs carry each other around. Playing with more pigs (i.e., two or three per person) is better. Update: now my 3-year old can play by the rules, and it's quite good. He also likes setting up the road to start the game.

Nice race game for kids (3+?) with really great wooden pigs that can be also be used for a stacking game with loads of possibilities included in the instructions.

- Like all of Drei Magier Spiele's games the production quality is through the roof, awesome art, thick cardboard tiles and beautiful wooden pigs that stack.
- The game plays fast and is a great introductory racing game to play with young children.
- You are never out of the race:
If you roll a black 1 you can roll again. If you roll a black 3, and you are in last place, you roll again.
Once per game you can move the first tile of the track to the end, lengthening the race.
- I love the fact that children can really work on their fine motor skills by stacking the pigs and discs in all sorts of combinations(the rulebook actually shows tons of examples)

Good stuff. I'd say compares favorably with Hare and Tortoise even. I left a few rules out for the first couple of times around with my four-year-old, but even so there are interesting decisions to be made (especially if you play with two piggies each). Afterward I asked my son whether he preferred the car race (Monza) or the piggie race, and predictably he said "the boat race". So I'd better make up a boat race; I don't think the stacking theme would work particularly well...

For young beginners this is a truely superior race game. The pieces are very attractive and the thought of taking a 'piggy back ride' on another player's piece always causes a giggle. The game comes in three sizes some of which are better than others.
In the small version the pigs are not very stable and it can be quite difficult to move them without their passengers falling off. The large version requires an unusually large table and it is difficult for very small people to reach all the way across. However, the middle sized version of the game fits nicely on most tables and is easy to handle, the children can reach and the pieces are stable.

I found this to be an interesting combination of a stacking and race game. The decisions in this game are non-trivial. There is some luck involved that can be mitigated to some extent. If you are aware of that, you can still enjoy the game. After all, at heart, it is still a kid's game. [01-01-2010]

Quick and very charming pig race game for small children that can be played by adults for light entertainment (in its variant with two pigs for each player). Pigs can stack up so that the pig underneath carries all the pigs he has on his back, and each player can extend the modular track with the first piece of it (providing it's empty) if they feel the opponents are too close to the goal for comfort.

Russellbande aka Piggyback Racing version. Great looking wooden pigs and reversible tracks!

A roll and move game with some small twists: if you roll a 1, move and roll again. If you are last and roll a black 3, move and roll again. Players can extend the track once per game. And last of all, players who land on an occuppied space go on top of other players and get moved when the pigs below move! Free ride!

Cute, amusing, whimsical, fun filler.

A good light family game! feels a lot like your standard roll and move race but has great components and best of all, a couple mechanics that throw in some fun! The ability to (once in a game) extend the race a bit so you can catch up. The many ways tracks can be built due to the 2 sided tiles, and best of all, the piggyback mechanic that allows you to stack your piggy (if you roll the right number) on the back of an opponent and be carried along with them.

Great for mixture of any age children and adults. Adults alone would find it boring after a few minutes probably.

Considered strictly for ingenuity of game play, Russelbande is a very weak racing game of roll the die and move, with only one strategic decision available (extend the track by one segment?) once per player per game. But the brightly colored wooden pigs, so cleverly and multifariously stackable, add a wonderful element of fun to the proceedings, so with any but the stodgiest of crowds this is a sure twenty minutes of laughs.

If you are looking for a fun kid's game, this is an excellent choice! Its basically roll and move but with the opportunity to piggy back on other pigs if you land on top of them. My one play was a rollicking good time as the kids really got into the game and placed the pigeeples in various stances when they weren't stacked.

Good, quick roll-and-move racing game for smaller kids. Not much there for adults, though. A bonus for the kids is that the great wood components can be used to build pyramids and other fun sculptures -- examples are even given in the rulebook. This part is as much entertainment as the game itself.
