Vlaada Chvátil’s first published boardgame. Unique combat rules and thrilling feel of real duel. Excellent.

Kind of a landmark, the mile-stone in the country of timeless games for me!
..I was lucky, almost a few decades ago to find this gem by a chance (or maybe it was a destiny or just a luck).. but ever since there were/are not many games I don't think of them as being 'too ...', or not 'too..' Uneasy to express.. I grew up on this piece without knowing what was happening in a gaming word elsewhere (no internet, no market) ..and this game is excellent and kind of radical still in these days..

Masterpiece of bluffing and second-guessing. Horrible bits though.

It is my favourite. It takes some time to learn well your deck to use it effectively and to get used to the rules (the weak side of the game) but then it extremely well simulates the fight situation. You feel like fight your enemy in real-time. No luck factor - its just you to deserve all the merit for the victory.
Very well suitable for tournaments etc. Plays well in 2 as well as in 4.

Best duelling game out there, bar none. Too bad it's too hard to teach - the rules are simple enough, but you really need to know all the cards before you can play decently.

You need a few games to know the decks. Not collectible. No luck. Every character has different options and plays very differently.

A very intense game, although overwhelming with the amount of possibilities you're given all up-front. There's a bit of a learning curve getting used to all the options presented for you (LOTS of reading little text), but after a couple plays it feels more natural. Once you get into it, it's a psychological battle as much as a strategic one - where and how will your opponent strike? Will he use his special skills or save them up? Is this all a trap? Who will make the first move? So good!

GREAT idea (almost total elimination of random element) but hopelessly complex rules which get even more hopelessly complex with more than 2 players. For geeks only! (And only for those who understand the language, as the cards are full of text.)

This has some really interesting and unique elements to it. I really need to play this again, as it's been awhile, so take the rating with a grain of salt, but I did really like it the last time I played. BTW, everything is in English (in my copy anyway).

Very nice and interesting combat game, from Czech. I love this game. The best Czech board game for me. But after several games find asassin too strong.

Bought when I lived in the Czech Republic. I felt the Assassin was overpowered, but other than that it was a fun game of psychological dueling.

Messy game, which requires that you knows the card deck well. On the other hand nearly no luck in the game.

It was too expensive, but it completed my Vlaada Chvatil gamecollection. (besides the Prophecy expansions, which I'll only get when they are released in English or Dutch)

No rating for me, probably won't get to play this any time soon. Looks like a neat game, but the bluffing/guessing element turns me off enough that I'd probably never really pursue buying this.
