One of the best multi-player games ever made. Make sure all the players remember the cold war AND they must be able to speak with bad Russian accents!

Probably my favorite board game of all time. Very popular in Europe but never a smash hit here in America for some unknown reason. A simple, yet remarkably satisfying, game of power politics in the Kremlin. By now, my group has genuine feelings about each of the candidates and nicknames for the most important. A true classic.

The game's probably only an eight, but if you really get into the bad Russian accents and gallows humor, it's hard to have more fun. (And it plays much faster than Junta, about which the same could be said.)

I own both Kreml and Kremlin but have only played Kremlin (AH version). This is my only game I have given a 10 to. Absolutely the best game I have ever played. There is so much going on but yet it is easy enough to learn, and the pace so steady, that it always feels tense.

One of my all time favorites. Game lasts 2 hours max! Good with 3, 4, 5, or 6 players. Truly vicious and fast paced - one we keep coming back to! Great if all players are of the same experience level or varying as long as you have at least two experienced players. Don't bother with the basic game, the advanced game just adds strong and weak positions and the intrigue cards. The cards allow for lots of nasty surprises and are a must (to the extent we didn't even try the basic game!)!! Use the assasin card to kill of one of your own guys (perhaps) but use him to frame someone else since you only need to roll a 12 to succeed - even if you blame the party chief!

I've introduced this to three different groups of gamers and it's been a hit every time. Combines lots of camp with subtle strategy. I think the advanced rules are a must - adds interesting elements, especially the cards, without much added complexity.

Our house rules are: 1) You have to refer to everyone as "Comrade" 2) When the Party Chief dies (by natural or unnatural causes) all people are obligated to sing "Kiss Him Goodbye" by Steam (at least the "Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, goodbye" part) 3) When the Party Chief successfully waves, we play the Russian anthem (the waver has 13 variations to choose from).

Really nothing to complain about when it comes to this game. Simple gameplay, coupled with a ton of tactics, and not a terribly high reliance on luck. The joy of actually making a move that hurts your opponent without you realizing it makes it even more worth playing =D

This one is probably a little outdated nowadays, but I have so many fond memories of it ... this game is the proof that swiss people have a great sense of humor! And, BTW, you really should get a hold of the Swiss version of this game - the AH is fine, but only the original looks really 'socialistic'!

A mechanic I havent seen again. The genius idea with the secret influence list, which represents political powerstruggle in a wonderful way. I was introduced to it in 1987 directly from Urs Hochstaedler at the Vienna Game Fair - and loved thia game ever since.

Yup, gets a 9+, because this game is so much fun! Seems even if you are losing you are right in there, adding your two cents worth to the opinions all being thrown about, enjoying the backstabbing, double playing dirty sneaky stuff going on. Great game. One look at the rules you might say "Huh"??. Just play a turn thru, and it all falls into place. Besides, the board has everything color coded and explained right on it. One of the most enjoyable games I own.

The only flaw with this one is that you can lose before the game even gets started if you pick all the wrong people. But once you get at least a few politicians going, you'll have so much fun you won't notice the flaws.

Excellent light-hearted game, best played late at night after several beers. Similar in style to Junta but at least 86 times better. Generates much jollity, and the enjoyment to be gained from purging and putting people under suspicious is huge. Downsides: the large luck element in allocating initial points can be irritating, it takes too long with 6 players and a perfect grasp of the not entirely clear rules is highly advantageous. But for all that this is a corker - I find the thought of anyone not liking it incredibly suspicious...

Great Game. Will play it any time I can. A little difficult to explain to new players based on the hidden influence mechanism.

suggestion for house rule: For 3 SP Allow the Defense minister to Condemn any Politburo member under investigation to Siberia without a Vote during the Investigation Phase. This rule makes all of the positions on the first level very powerful.

Time will tell if its theme shall become dated, but anyone born in the seventies will remember enough of the historic Kremlin to laugh at the perfectly-constructed satire this game offers. Also, a system that's refreshing and innovative for its time (with secret point allocation) still keeps the game fun to play in Aa time where simplicity of rules and clarity of rulebook stand paramount.

One of my classic favourites. The Fata Morgana edition looks a bit old-fashioned (ok, ok, VERY old-fashioned...), but in my opinion that fits in well with the game theme. One of the funniest games I have played. If you don't mind a bit of chaos, try it.

I love this game. With most groups of people, this game becomes very engrossing and fun without degrading to a total luck-fest. To win you must play other people against each other while advancing your politicians without calling attention to yourself. But you don't even know if 'your' politician is really yours! It requires subtlety and negotiating without being too deep or long of a game.

A game of political intrigue that has a strong theme and a good sense of humour. Dated in the use of paper notation of the influence points, but there's real strategy and decision-making in the game, which adds to its replayability. Relatively short playing time too. Way way better than Junta (and yet Junta gets reprinted while Kremlin languishes in OOP land.)

A Eurogame before there were Eurogames. It always winds up in the car when heading off to a games afternoon with friends, and always winds up getting played at least once.

What's to love about Kremlin?
* Easy to learn, few rules - players can pick up the rules (and win on their first attempt) after observing only a single turn or two.
* Great theme - who doesn't like silly accents?
* Fast playing - can play multiple games in a single sitting, or use it as the opening game of the day while awaiting others to arrive.
* Little or no down time - your brain is going to be always on the go.
* Sure there's stabbing, but it all happens quickly, and the game theme is light-hearted, so I've never seen someone bearing a grudge. You can always get them back later in the evening.

But...
* Like many games, Kremlin is only at its best with at least 4 players playing FTF IRL. As with Diplomacy, part of the subtlety of the game comes from trying to interpret others' subconscious cues to deduce who their stooges are.
