The thing you wouldn't expect from this game is how hard you will laugh while playing. It is ALWAYS a favorite at get-togethers, even with those that don't really like games.

Really, Really liked this game! It's like Pictionary meets Apples to Apples. Draw the noun given however you'd like, everyone judges the card based on the adjective picked up after. Best part about this is that you dont have to be an artist to win, because the adjective picked up might be "ugliest" or "embarrassing".

One of the best party games I've played in recent memory. I think the tagline sums it up best: "A Game for the Artistically Challenged."

By far, the best "drawing" game available. You don't have to be good...the worst artist often wins.

Uh, they have special rules for this game in St. Louis. This game is similar to a game like Pictionary or Win, Lose, or Draw. However, in this game a card is drawn and the players are given a phrase which prompts all of them to draw the same sort of thing. A die is then rolled to determine one to three cards of another set. These cards are used to determine voting conditions for the series of drawings. Often the person who draws something completely unrelated or quite "crudely" can win the vote. The tricks to the game involve quick thinking-ability and the ability to draw quickly before the sand timer runs out. Clever-thinking is good, but then you have to draw the idea out quickly. My drawing of the game Werewolf for the word werewolf was understood, but my drawing of a young David Carradine for grasshopper left everyone puzzled. The game reminded me of Why Did the Chicken...

Excellent game! Even for those people who normally do not like drawing games- you NEED to try this one. There is a great game mechanic that turns even stick figure drawings and scribbles into winners!!

There's basically no control and the winner is decided basically by the person drawing the zaniest pictures... but still, a very, very funny game. I can see it getting a little tiring with many plays or with the wrong crowd, but I like this one a lot.

This party game is not about drawing, it's about fast thinking. voting for the sketches that most match randomly drawn categories gives it an apples to apples feel. my group apparently has added a rule mandating the inclusion of male genitalia.

This was a surprising amount of fun. Very quickly, I realized that you could enjoy drawing some funny or weird take on the category to entertain people. Rarely does the most realistic drawing win, so you are always looking for something fun to put out as your offering. Much laughter was had.

[Gamewright 07 edition] {Party; drawing, voting; optimal 6-8p} Luck of the draw is a nice mix of "Apples to Apples" and "Pictionary". It's a good party game. It is fun, interactive and full of laughter. I recommend drawing 2 category cards each turn to speed up the game and avoid fiddly dice rolls. English barrier is very strong in this game. Even though I am educated, I don't know the meaning of some category cards. The game will be even wilder with drinks.

Drawing skill is not the key point. The key point is the category card draw and voting. It is fun when drawings are revealed and voted for. This game encourages creativity and wild drawing.

This is a great party game for kids and adults alike. Nonstop laughter. I have played it with groups as large as 14 by discarding the color wheels and giving everyone a voting chip to place directly on the drawings themselves.

I explain this game as "a mixture of Pictionary and Apples To Apples". Each time I have played, the game has led to some big laughs. More of a passtime than a game, really. The big drawback is that the random "what to vote for" cards sometimes remove the focus away from the humorous drawings.

I had to up this from a "7" to an "8" and then to a "9". Everyone seems to have fun with this game. It is a fantastic party game. The game is fun because it rewards people who can draw and those like me who can't draw well at all. That is because each player votes on the drawing that meets random categories, for example, "Most Artistic", "Scariest", "Most Like a Stick Figure", and on and on. The categories are often hilarious. Every time I've played, we have all laughed and laughed. If the object of a game is to have fun, then this is the best of games. Awesome family game. Kids adore it. Downgraded it to a "6". I am burned out on this one. It's actually worse that that - I hate this game. How did this happen?

Finally a drawing game that doesn't reward the best artist. It gets a little stale after awhile, but it's always fun to see a new player's look of suprise when they realize it's good that they had the worst drawing. I think it's a really ingenious system for families and non-gamers to enjoy a drawing game.

I think the biggest problem though is just that you are so completely out of control of your own destiny. The best drawings sometimes don't get any attention and the worst sometimes don't either. Occasionally people will try to be clever and draw a synonym of the word, but even that isn't necessarily enough to guarantee a point.

Upside:Fun game, makes me laugh.
Downside:After I play it a couple of times, I've had enough.

Good game to bring out once every 3-4 months.

Edit:Seems very stale after 15 plays to all in my group except my 10 year old daughter

Reasonably fun game, but I didn't like that winner would win for basically arbitrary reasons. For drawing games, I much prefer Portrayal. Neither require you to be a great artist though. I also didn't think this game fit the requirement of "educational", which is important to me in games that I might play with kids.

After 1 Play: More of an activity than a game, since because you don't know what criteria you will be judged on, it's impossible to try to do well. I know this is the intent of the game, and serves to make it more enjoyable for folks who are extremely averse to competition, but even in party games people should be striving to win.

This is an OK game. Meaning it doesn't matter how well you draw as the criteria for willing is based on a random card draw. Fun to play, but there are many better games out there that do a better job.
