There are some things that could be better but overall one of the best games we have played. Only suggestion is don't rush to win but be patient and look for max number of clues you never know what you may be asked in the final round. Really wish they would come out with an expansion set.

This is fun to play. However, there are only 15 mysteries to solve and you move by rolling a single die - so there is potential for bad luck preventing you from seeing clues or answer keys.

Another favorite of the wife, as you don't have to be a history buff to collect the clues and solve the riddle. It does take some luck though, as some clue cards reveal more than others.

Very good deduction game that uses some clever deduction tools, but the game loses points for only being replayable 15 times as that is the number of mysteries included in the box.

However, if you were only going to play a few times a year I would probably give it a 7 or 8, which is high praise considering I usually dislike deduction games.

I must admit that I was wary of the game, as there aren’t many movie tie-in games that are worth a grain of salt. However, there are some very interesting ideas here, the most prominent being the various methods in which players must discover and decipher answers to the cryptic clues. Forcing players to pay attention to other details about the articles they examine is also clever. Further, the game does evoke the mysteries and tension present in the book and movie.

Alas, the game is not perfect. Some clues are very easy to solve, while others are extremely cryptic and difficult. Players who discover the easy clues will have a significant advantage over those who are unfortunate enough to stumble across the difficult ones. Further, the answers to some clues provide a wealth of information, often allowing the player to solve the mystery phrase with one answer. Others, however, reveal little information. This disparity in the usefulness of clue answers often causes the game to end prematurely, with one or two players solving the mystery phrase quickly and suddenly.

I also have issues with the tried and tired "roll and move" mechanism, which requires players to reach a destination by exact count. A few unlucky rolls could easily translate into a player futilely missing his destinations while opponents uncover and decipher several clues. This is frustrating. An action point system to regulate movement and other tasks would have been far superior.

In spite of its flaws, however, the game is intriguing, and does provide some interesting clue-solving mechanisms and gadgets. The game is certainly worth a look by those who enjoy deduction games. And while they may not find the elusive Holy Grail of games, fans of the book and movie will find much here to enjoy.

good mistery-solving game with an interesting setting, good components and some difficult engimas.
the problem here is about replayability and the mechanic used to gain hints. the overused roll-a-die system is totally unforgiving and leads to lack of the information you need to solve the mystery.
FRurthermore toi enjoy the game you must tune it and use less "taxi" and "atm" cards, otherwise when you finally score the number that grants you some piece of the puzzle you just waste the turn collecting a useless card for transportation.
A pity. It really needs a revamp.
Best played in 6 or more.

There are enough 'settings' that you can play the game a number of times, but once you've completed all the 'settings', the game is no longer worth having in your collection. It is however worth having and playing until then. Very enjoyable.

Some fun puzzles in here; the general idea is not too bad. A big luck factor is present, however, which can mean you get to see very few of the puzzles.

In the Dutch edition, the instructional DVD is missing, and the rules are very unclear. It will take most people some time to discover how to use the different instrument.

The Dutch translation does still use the English puzzles. Though the instructions and hints have been translated in Dutch, a lot of puzzles are about English words, and the Dutch game is not playable for those without a decent knowledge of English.

Got this as a gift. Wanted to punch the poor soul in the face who got it for me. Yet another weak game plastered on with a license that tries to make the concepts seem interesting. Played it twice and never again. Off to garage sale territory, never to be seen again after I get my two dollars out of it.

Talking about replayability and down time issues...

Mmm combined with time pressure (failed attempt to reduce the downtime to an acceptable level, but introducing unwanted stress) and roll and move. And even a test at the end how well you read the cards with too small text.

This game is destined to suck
