This is a great card driven game, one of the best in its class. The momentum markers are a brilliant device, and the random variable (support checks) is a perfect match. Any fan of TS should definitely check this one out.

Great game. Theme may appear to be boring, but each game plays differently and the end always comes with great expectations of the rewards of a well run campaign or unexpected disappointment.

I love this game - it is a fabulous game full of great mechanics and it models the 1960 US election amazingly well and teaches you a bit of history at the same time. Also the Election Day tension is fabulous!

Played twice now. This is definitely a game where you want to do more than you can at any given time, and there are a lot of agonizing choices to be made:

Do I play this card as an event or for points?
Will my opponent try to trigger this event?
Which cards do I save for Campaign Strategy?

...and so on. I also love the "tug of war" that happens in each state and on the issues tiles. I have an unfortunate tendency to get Endorsements and Advertising confused, so I need to brush up on that and how the Debates work.

Fantastic game. I can't wait to play it again, along with its cousin Twilight Struggle.

4-15-08: Tax Day how fitting. I have played thru a solo run thru game and a game against my son. It is a fun tense game with hard choices to make on your turn, especially if the card has an event that favors your opponent.

Beautiful components and so intuitive and balanced that even new players seem to get it straight away. Love the knife edge games when it falls on one state, or one cube in a final support check...

This definitely takes more plays to get your head around, the rules are not that complex, despite a few special rules when it comes to intriciate details such as the canditates location etc., but the strategy, especially long-term is where the crux lies in this game. Knowing where to invest your campaign points and in the media etc. and accepting defeat in some states while going for a surprise attack in another is what makes this game interesting. I know it is based on the actual election mechanism but the fact that some states are worth ten times the votes than others feels really weird. HX

Shows how difficult it is to campaign across the nation with so many choices to make, but with not enough time or resources, just like reality. Found that winning issues provided an extremely favorable advantage for gaining momentum chips and endorsements more quickly than triggering event cards. Looking forward to playing this game multiple times. Hoping GMT will come out with an Obama vs. Romney update next year!

Game in a Nutshell: Card driven competition over election year 1960, where several components (media, debates, campaigning, etc.) all play in tipping the scales for each state's electoral votes.

Played as: Two-player only.

Pros: Absolutely every turn is as important as the last. There will be no winning this game in the first 30 minutes of play, and chances are when it's all said and done, there's going to be a race that's so tight, it'll likely be decided by a few well placed cubes. The closeness of each contest of course is because of some nice built in mechanics that only allow the smallest of advantages to maybe slip through from round to round.

Cons: There is a small random factor that can make a big difference on election day when drawing cubes from the bag. The theme was an initial turnoff.

Other: This has that great combination of opponent interaction vs. hand management that I love so much in my favorite games. However, I'm worried that this game isn't quite as dynamic as others and will wear out faster due to a more structured progression of play. I was pleasantly surprised that the game, labeled with such a boring title, actually has very tight and exciting game-play.

Best Use: Right now it's the best two-player gamers game I've played.

Great game. Very evocative of the 1960 election, and the subtle strategies and card combos heighten the replay value. The rest cube mechanic is genius. I do wish an expansion would come out for it to address the issue track.

The game works good in a "let's see what happens, if I do this" manner, provided that your opponent isn't too sure what he is supposed to do either. The overall feel I got was very good, the games were over very quick, once we came to the election. The feel of a presidential campaign is definitely there. The thing I am not too clear about yet is, how much card draw affects winning and loosing. With the right cards, you can devastate your opponent in no time, while wrong cards can lead to stagnation and frustration. It should level out during the 9 phases, but still. The middle of the game debate event seems a bit artificial. Nonetheless, very eager to play again in the near future.

It's remarkably fun for its complexity. The cards do a good job balancing the range of options available to the player. It also plays pretty quickly.

(9/08) I had heard it was a good intro to the card driven series of games . . . and it was. I liked the give and take vying for control of states in the midst of an election. There are a few different ways to prevent "events" that would benefit your opponent (unlie Twilight Struggle - where it's either hold the card for a round or space race it). I enjoyed it and would love to play it again soon.
