As at its core Walk the Plank is a trick taking game there's isn't a whole lot of strategy that needs to be employed, and all that's needed to keep a player in the ongoing game is a single trick taken (something I managed to avoid twice in the times I have played it, thus getting taken out of the game). I'll also say that the person that ends up as Captain has a huge sway on how the game will likely play out, and pretty much every time we played the person that started off as Captain managed to hold the position for the majority of the games.

VERY fast-moving -- suspect it is optimal with a larger number of players as a party game, rather than with 3 as we played it.

Basic trick-taking card game with a few twists. Nothing really new here but worth taking a look at if you like trick-taking card games.(June 2007)

Miss taking a trick?... 'Walk the Plank' and you're out of the game!

A fun little filler at best. The best thing is that it will play up to 9 people... even though most of them will be out after the first round of play.

This was a fun multiplayer trick taking game. I like the way the game is played but unfortunately I was eliminated after the first round. But this wasn't much of a problem as the game is quick and was over soon. I will probably look to acquire a copy of this game.

Components: Simple artwork on linen-finish cards. A few were marked with a white line on the back, right out of the box, so now everyone knows who has the 1 Monkey.

Experience: Quick trick-taking game. I have only played with 2-5 players, and it worked well with those numbers. With so many cards out of circulation, it's tough to gauge what others have in their hands.

What make this game unique are 1) the elimination factor, having to win at least one trick per hand, and 2) trying to become Captain, who has an advantage to win. In theory, the game might be trying to make me choose between a risky move to try to be Captain, and a more conservative play to ensure I win at least one trick. But in practice, it doesn't work that way. I just try to win as many tricks as I can, and typically, by luck, I either do or I don't.

With decreasing numbers of players and cards, each hand becomes more capricious. Players being eliminated is a big problem. Yes the games are short, but who wants to lose in the first round of a game and wait an entire game to try their luck again? Okay for kids, to introduce to the idea of trick-taking, but there are many better games out there.

Elimination game by means of trick taking. Not a bad take on the genre, although as always, it depends on the hand you're dealt. Sometimes there isn't much you can do to prevent elimination. So don't take this filler too serious.

Short game and not very enduring. The lead is very powerful and chosen randomly at the beginning. There are not enough cards to make much more strategy than play your highest cards. To use more cards like say 10 would just make the game unbearably long. Player elimination works because the game is short. A reasonable introduction to trick taking games for children. Better with more players. [5]43

Standard trick taking for a large group of people. Games don't take very long even with large groups. Nothing really new here though.

This game is ok, nothing special. It plays really fast, is Pirate themed, and would probably be good for those that like trick taking games with a "survival" element; the object of the game is to take at least 1 trick each round or be knocked out of the game. Takes 15-20 minutes to play, so it's a filler.
