Interesting the way dice selection can be used to balance the difficulty, and the Boggle-type scoring does what Boggle-type scoring does best.

Fun game to play with my mom who loves word games. Feels similar to Boggle (scoring) with a bit of Scattergories (answers must include letters rolled on the dice) mixed in.

A pretty good word game with a Boggle feel, but easier in some ways because you can use any letters you want (harder, though, if you need to _see_ the letters to prompt your brain)..

--- Summary ---
There are 7 dice: white (common letters), orange (rarer letters), and blue (medium). On your turn, pick 4 dice and roll them. Then the player to your left may discard 1 of those 4. Players now race to write as many words as possible using those letters (and any others), before the timer runs out. Then, each player scores 1VP per unique word. The rules don't specify, but we disallowed multiple forms of a word (as well as the no-Proper-nouns and other common rules). Most VP after 2 or 3 rounds wins.

I love word games where you can build words around letters, rather than have to deal with the letters that are already fixed on the board. But I didn't find this terribly thrilling.

I guess it's the same thing as Boggle where you find a word and modify the hell out of it. Infinitive, gerund, past tense, plural, adjective, and so on. I guess some people dig it, but not me, I'm afraid.

That doesn't make it a bad game. I'd play this again. In fact, I'd play it sooner than I'd play Boggle. But I wouldn't ask for it.

You randomly roll up some letters and then come up with as many words as you can that use them. Boggle-like timer and scoring.

Okay word game. There is a tendency for some players to get stuck in a rut and have very low scoring rounds.

This game needs some rules changes and then it would probably rise to at least a 6-point-something. The problem is that you can use plurals, -ing, -ly, -ingly, -er, -ers, etc, etc. Oh, and re-, anti-, ...

The solution is to allow only the most succinct version of any such word. If someone uses review, then count it (unless someone else did so). But then disallow rereview, rereviewer, rereviews, reviewer, reviews, and so on.

We had a roll of T-E-R, which was just an exercise in fast writing. We each rattled off numerous words with nary an overlap. Not very enthralling.

I got this for free from a contest in the Out of the Box newsletter. I like that you're thinking up words rather than just finding them in a grid like Boggle, but it's too open-ended, and it becomes tedious to write down all the plurals, verb forms, prefixes and suffixes, etc. There might be some way to fix this, but I haven't thought of a good solution yet. (You could count all forms of a word as the same, but then you get into arguments about whether one word is a form of another word or not.)

I like word games: Boggle, Scattergories, etc. But lack of restrictions and variation of points for word length leave this one sucking wind. The allowance of reuse of root word (ie: suck, sucked, sucking, sucktacular, sucks...) just makes this plain ridiculous. I abused this rule and had double the points of everyone else. There should also be a bonus for longer words (say 7-9 letters, and 10+). If I use antidisestablishmentarianism I expect more points than bat.

You get a few dice with letters on them and a pad of papers. In a box that could be 5 times smaller and half the price. A big fat scam of a game, although truth be told it's not a bad play.

We had to ban multiple suffixes (-s, -ing, -ed, -est). Some rolls were hard -- think of a long list of words that all include W F B, for example. Words that no one else will think of. Wiffleball?
