Played quite a bit about 10 years ago so this is stretching my memory a bit.
As I recall the game doesn't use dice exclusively for combat but instead employs a Combat results table whereby a base units strengths and defenders armour/training are compared and a number of fixed casualties are inflicted - no saves permitted.
The game comes with simple, but elegant army/force lists all based around a points system. These include an Elizabethan force, Civil war combatants (early and late), Spanish succession forces and some Polish stuff.
The best thing I recall is the campaign system centred around the fictional County of Scruttockshire. Which would be perfect for use in Rpg sessions especially if using clockwork and chivalry or some similar rpg setting.
