A very elegant design with easy to grasp, easy to teach mechanisms. Rich choices of actions on a rapidly evolving world map. No randomness beyond initial setup. Plenty of strategy and tactics packed into a 75 minute play time window. A definite 10 after repeat playings. Bravo!

First game wass a 5 player and 4 of which were all new players. We finishedd in 90 minutes. Nice eurogame with conflict. One of my top 5 Gencon 2009 releases.

This game packs a lot of strategy in a short amount of time. It is a game where building a balanced empire is critical. Sure you can invest in a heavy industry, but with out finance and population to use the high end buildings your empire is doomed.

Have played the 2p variant and with multiple players. It plays quickly - I played two 3p games with rules explanation, set-up and clean-up in under two hours.

The game is playable with two, but much more fun with more. I think the game is optimum with four and a 2p variant where each player controls two colors would be an excellent variant. Of course the Knizia rule (highest low score wins) would need to be in effect.

This is a fabulous euro that plays is sixty or seventy minutes. It combines the best of Goa (although not inspired by Goa) with a competitive war element that leaves you second guessing yourself constantly. There is real tension because scores are not obvious, however cooperation and agression both have thier place in this finely balanced game.

I helped playtest Endeavor, and loved it every time. One major change suggested by Z-Man after they accepted it from Carl&Jarrat moved it from being "great" to "awesome" - they put tokens & glory points in between the cities to be earned only if you got the cities on both sides - adding another layer of interaction and making the military option a lot more effective.

Here are the key things I like about this game:

It's short! Can even take less than an hour if everyone knows what they're doing, but even if they don't it should never take more than 2 hours.

Given how short it is, it handles a *lot* of aspects of its theme in an elegant and abstract sort of way: Expansion, war, shipping, trade, colonization, slavery, culture, finance, politics - who would of thought you could fit all of that into a light/medium weight 60-90 minute game?

It's "luckless" - after the initial random setup of the board chits, which are visible to everyone, there's no luck involved at all, except the choices of your fellow players, which you can influence...

There's no real downtime or analysis paralysis - every turn requires a fair bit of thought, but there's no point in thinking things too far ahead because what the other players do is always going to affect what you can or should do next.

Oh, and now I've finally played on a real board rather than a paper prototype, I can confirm the artwork and component quality are absolutely top notch!

One of my favorite games. Has many routes to winning. Game has a little of everything: Four progress tracks, colonization, shipping, getting cards, winnning regions and even taking over opponents cities through military.

the only random element is the initial setup, which is viewable by all- excellent mix of strategy and tactics, direct and indirect interaction, along with interesting and constant decisions, all in 45 minutes to an hour. This hits all the right buttons for me, and makes me want to play it MORE every time I play it.

A nearly flawless game with perfect information, tons of deep, interesting decisions, and very intuitive rules that are easy to teach; it will surprise you how fast it plays; fantastic game.

Only weakness is the time it takes to set up and score, but it still deserves a 10.

LOVE IT. 3,4,or 5 players always plays great.
Trying to figure out who is winning at any given time really sucks though and is near impossible without pausing the game for 10 mins - so it gets hard to figure out which person you should be shooting at!

Works well with 3 to 5 players. Also plays quickly - 5 player game including rules explanation - 2 hours. Three player game with experienced players - 1 hour.

Great game. Plays really smoothly with a lot of tough choices. A bit of PR, a bit of Goa, but melted in a new way. Probably the best game of 2009 !

No auctions, no money, no victory point track, no really bad moves. Complex setup and counting of victory points at the end.

Update: Wow! Plays differently every time. The last game I played (5 player) I had NO cards and only 1 & 2 value buildings half way through the game and thought I was toast. Only resorted to warfare once. Won easily.

I really enjoy building up my player board with the items collected. Furthermore, deciding where on the board to get them makes the decision even better. Great game; not very complex; wonderful design!!

A quality game. Each game takes us between 60 and 75 minutes. This is ideal and it packs a lot of decisions into a short game. I have even taken this to a convention and taught others to play and it rarely has people turning down the chance to play again. A terrific little game that would grace any collection.
