I'll think of something witty to put here...

I have a beat up copy that I'm willing to trade, and would like to trade for a new or almost new copy.

I've played this over 30 times now (Jan 2010). Update: 145 plays (Sep 2013).

BSG can run long sometimes (3.5 hours), but is usually 2 - 2.5 hours (2hr 15 is typical). It's not too complicated or too simple for it's length. I don't normally like random dice and event cards in my games, but for some reason it doesn't bother me here.

This is a great game partly because it is so different to most other games*, but also because it is well designed. Innovative mechanics include the skill checks (inc. the destiny deck), the sleeper phase, the cylon ship activation symbols, the crisis cards that give one player a choice between A.) discarding personal cards (hidden info, these are a resource only to that player - but they could be cashed in to either help the humans OR sabotage the humans) or B.) losing a (collective) resource such as food.

* The only similar games I know of are Shadows of Camelot (not as good), Werewolf and Saboteur (good for what they are, but at 20-30 mins too short and simple for a full game session).

It is quite hard for the humans to win, but that's not a bad thing. I think playing as a Cylon is more fun - but only slightly.

I think there's a nice progression of tension on most jump cycles.

Usually by the time you jump some Cylon ships have shown up and are threatening civilian ships or to board Galactica. Sometimes you get a breather, when you can focus on other important actions like fixing vipers, quoruming, etc. Other times things spiral out of control, with the tension rising to a crescendo as someone hits the FTL button to jump ASAP.

By the time you have an idea of who the Cylons are (if any), another batch of loyalty cards comes out. Also as resources dwindle the tension mounts, as each skill check becomes more and more important, and resources are stretched thinner by the Cylons.

A great game. And I watched the TV show because of it, not the other way around. It's great TV too (or at least the first 2 seasons are - start with the Miniseries http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlestar_Galactica_%28TV_mini...).

This is the first semi-cooperative game I played and I enjoyed it very much. Great mechanics and lots of variety in possible strategies, both for the good and evil players. There are a few reasons why this is not a 10 to me. 1: The Theme, I am not a Sci-Fi fan and never saw a single BG episode, so it does not add or take anything for me. If anything, it makes the game harder to relate to. 2: The game encourages social gaming, a lot ! So if you are playing with people who are not into that, the game loses lots of its appeal. Also, the is a lot of accusing, nastyness and betrayal going on, which can be fun, but some people may not like that sort of interaction. 3.) Experienced players have an advantage over newbies. Other than that, Amazing game.#

EDIT: I would rathe this a 10 for the game that takes place before the Cylon(s) is revealed, it becomes less exciting and rather anticlimactic afterwards.

EDIT: Played Shadows over Camelot for the first 2 times today and must say that it is the superior 'traitor' game, not by much but still. I prefer the theme, playing time and nature of the climax.

A very nice and balanced space simulation that provides room for a lot of maneuvering and hidden agendas.Excellent theme incorporation.I don't like-actually hate-the theme and the live photos. It would be a 10 with a different theme.

Might be even better than Shadows over Camelot, this game just oozes theme. Takes a wonderful property and runs with it!

Hidden traitor mechanic raises the meta-game above the board game - albeit it needs the right game group and environment to really shine. Love it. Plays long.

Thrilling, complex, and paranoia-inducing. VERY thematic and detailed. As a longtime fan of the show, I adore this game.

It's rules-heavy, and there are a bazillion pieces, as it is a FFG game, but it's still one of my favorite games in my collection. Definitely recommend.

The best of the traitor games though it does suffer from the FFG "Fiddly" issue (too many piddly unnecessary rules).

Still a great game all around, all things considered.

Great bits, thematically strong, and some original mechanics. Not completely sold on the overall flow of the game or how the cylon traitor system works, but still highly enjoyed every game played so far.

UPDATE: Sweet spot on this one is definitely 5 players!
