War style game where you enlist the favor of the gods to move troops, military and mythical creatures to eliminate your opponents. The game, as a war game, includes a strong "take that" element but the manner in which the gods are chosen and mythical creatures appear and are enlisted make for a more strategic game than simply a chaotic war game. Although I generally don't like take that style games this game is an exception, is super fun, creative, well designed, and thematic. The expansions are great and improve the overall experience by adding more gods and moving capabilities.

One of my favourite games! It is something like RISK 2.0: it solves the critical rules with a smart fight system that rewards tactics. However the game works around an auction mechanic very well devolped. The expansions are very good.

It looks amazing and colorful, I'll give them that.
However, with only two Gods allowing some movement on the board, you get to spend most of the game sitting and regretting you weren't the one player who gets to move this turn. However, without the chances of moving each turn, the strategic positions of everything get pretty crucial and that's a good thing.
I definitely don't recommend 3-player game, though.

EDIT: The expansions help this game to bloom quite a bit.

I love Classical Mythology and this game is just awesome! :-D For me it´s a must have. I start played it in a game-expo and I fell in love. Beautiful artwork: IMHO, the most awesome board game I have in my collection.

played twice with Titans expansion, one six-player game (which we erroneously played with 2 teams of 3 each). Teamplay was quite nice. The other time we played with 5, each on his own. Which was really bad, I thought -- too few significant choices, dominant military strategy, less fun on the bidding part. Basically almost broken without team-play -- at least to me.

This game is fantastic. I have always been a huge fan of Grecian mythology. I like how the auction is done to seek the favor of a god rather than strictly a money auction that gets you something of value. Games always tend to be tight with most people being able to win at any time in the last few turns.

A nice and light civilization and area control game. You have to bid for the favour of the Greek gods in order to be able to build armies, ships, buildings or to gain gold. Then you try to conquer as many island as possible with different building because if you manage to control five different buildings you will be able to build a metropolis. Two metropolises get you absolute victory. There is a basic, luck based (dice) combat, and also you can recruit mythological creatures to aid you. It has a great design, easy to learn mechanics and it plays out quickly. The downside is that without the reference sheet it is hard to figure out which creature what power it has.

Looks and plays great - a well-balanced mix of elements taken from euro and ameritrash games. And though very impressive on its own, it gets even better with the Hades expansion.

Really enjoying this one. A fun, constantly different "guys on a map" game, with "Euro- flavor" that plays in 60-90 minutes and scales well at all player counts.

Due to the Gods, and Mythological creatures, there is a lot of opportunities in this game for sudden large swings. You really need to be paying attention in this game.

Not as much conflict as one would think, in this game. I've played entire games with 5P and seen only 2 battles.

Great components. Semi permanent creatures minis, once painted up, really helps the visual appeal.

***The Cyclades/Kemet crossover exp stored (w/Manticore exp for Cyclades) in separate Cyclades Hades expansion box.

Bogowie, mitologiczne stwory i malownicze wyspy pełne wojsk.

An interesting merger of a Euro-style auction mechanic with moving armies about the board and fighting by rolling dice. I think it's a good game - it looks absolutely beautiful too - but these days I rarely find myself wanting to play it. The various different mythological creatures keep each game different - but Pegasus is overpowered (not game-breakingly so, but definitely in the sense that even a first-time player needs to be told that it exists so that they can plan for it). The rules, which do a good job on most things, also do a woefully inadequate job of explaining exactly how the creatures work (there is a separate reference sheet with all of them on, but it is far too sketchy), meaning that either a quick decision on how to interpret them, or looking up rules questions on BGG, is necessary.

It's still an excellent game, though - just not one that's often on my "I want to play this tonight" list. In fact, we haven't played it since at least 2013, and I can't say I'm in a rush to play again.

One of my favorites in collection. Easy to learn - hard to master game that combines in one a lot of interesting mechanics (all that is really well bonded with the theme). Euro game with ameritrash feel.
One can explain the rules in five minutes and have a thrilling play with new and expirienced opponents alike.

Okay game, but not worthy of its high rank in my opinion.

A mix-match of game mechanics & a frustration of not being able to do what you want when you lose the auction phase.

Needs another play to be sure.

It's got a lot of simple elements that give you many strategic options when combined. My friend described it as "simple and complex" which is oddly accurate. Attacking is simple. Bidding is simple. The God abilities are simple. The mythic creature abilities are simple. Winning is straight-forward (build 2 metropolises to win). But you add them all together and it's easy to learn but tough to master because, every round, you have to be aware of many possible winning moves and block opponents while progressing yourself.

A war-game for eurogamers, or a euro for wargamers. It seems to be scratching the same itch for me as Shogun, but out of the two I feel Shogun to be superior. I'd still willingly play it if offered a game.

A perfect combination of easy-to-grasp rules, beautiful theme, tense gameplay with great opportunities for deviousness and cruel ruination of your opponents plans. A superficial glance might suggest this is a risk-like area control game. It's not. It's a knife fight in a phone box. The bidding on the gods is fast and *hugely* fun.

Tipo: Competitivo // Interacción: Media // Azar: Bajo // Rejugabilidad: Media
Cartas: 52 de 58x88 mm
Fundas recomendadas: Ultra Pro (tamaño "Standard american")

I especially like the bidding for the favors of the gods. You're not only bidding for their favors, but also the order of play, relative to your direct rivals, and the ability to use one or more of the mythological creatures on offer. When you are outbid, you need to choose another god, adding extra complexities to the bidding process.

Very simple, yet loaded with subtleties that make the overall experience very rewarding. An excellent gateway to more advanced strategy games due to a combination of very good presentation with solid and straightforward mechanics. Highly recommended for players who want to take a shot at more complicated territory control games, but are afraid of the steep learning curve,

EDIT:

Having played the game a number of times, I reckon that most of the time there is not much going on. It's tough to wage war beause only one player can win Ares/Poseidon at a time, and while war is not the only way to win the game, then again the whole experience seems rather slow-paced and tough to control in the long run. Fun as it is, it doesn't even come close to serious strategy / war games.

EDIT: The expansion alleviates most of the issues I used to have with Cyclades and makes the whole experience deeper and aggressive. A very nice expansion indeed.

FINAL EDIT: OK, the expansion made it a good game again, but... There are so many other, better games to play - games that don't drag because of the bidding process and allow you to do what you want and when you want to do it. Thus, Cyclades has had to wave its goodbye after all.
