I think it's a mistake to call this a horse racing game; it's really a horse betting game. The mechanism for moving the horses is extremely simple but also extremely clever. The secret of success in the game, however, is in your betting strategy.

In keeping with Geeks marking down lighter games, but taken in context as a filler should score much higher. This is a tense, exciting race/betting game which manages to squeeze a lot into 30 minutes.

Simple mechanics, basically roll a die and move, a bit of nail-biting and off-the wall graphics make for an entertaining game.A minor classic I think.

Enjoyable push your luck race game - the betting is fun ... use the hidden placement option.
Its easy for non-gamers. Races are quick and exciting and I find myself eager for my next go. When its not your go you badger the rolling player to move low numbers on others horses or cheer for others - and you could be bluffing!

Nice betting game that plays quick.
Very easy to explain.
Before you throw the dice each player can place one single bet starting with the player who's turn it is.
That person throws for all five horses. He moves them to the other lane (so you could see which horses allready moved)
After the turn. The player to his left gets to throw the dice and move the horses. But not before everybody has had the right to place one single bet.

There should be as many races as players. Everybody has to be the start player once. (because of the betting mechanism the start player is least likely to win. (It's pretty absurd to place a bet in the opening turn.)

Game was well received by my uncle and his wife. All they play is can't stop. (I've logged more than 150 plays of it with them, and they have played close to 400)

Simple but fun horse racing game where you bet as the race progresses. Roll a die five times, once for each horse and then move them according to what's best for your bets. Each player gets to place three bets. The earlier you place your bet, the more return you're likely to get.

Short and very entertaining. Overlooked.

Kind of a simplistic Royal Turf, simpler movement, in-race betting. Not sure the betting completely works (maybe we should bet in reverse turn order?). Nice artwork.

A good fun dice-roller. Another in a long line of horse race / betting games, Favoriten has a good twist in that players continue to bet during the race after things become clearer. 2-5 players, and claerly better with more players. If you have Turf Horse Racing (or the later editions) I'd say that Favoriten was still worth getting. And it uses the knight pieces from chess for the horses!

I suspected that this would be a fun game to own, but not worth tracking down and paying the price for it. My local dollar store had cool hard plastic crawling baby pieces and I had been looking for a way to use them. So, I figured as the pieces aren't that great in this game, I might as well make my own version as a baby racing game.

So, I made a steel track (with the crosshatched grip) floating over fire, it was worth it. Baby Racing Rocks!

This is more or less Royal Turf, perhaps better, although Royal Turf does have the advantage of the null bid.

Absolutely, lighter and faster that Royal Turf and should be played with as close to max players as possible with three or four rounds to eliminate the game's overwhelming kingmaker tendancy. Worth a couple of laughs, but I suspect that might be because of the babies.

I love the movement system, but the betting feels kind of broken, and even if it isn't, it loses its luster fairly quickly. Members Only, though a very different game, handles this progressive/accumulative "betting" system much better. So does Titan the Arena, for that matter. Hmm... That Reiner fellow might be worth watching...

A very light roll-and-move racing game. The good is that it's a pretty clean design and moves along quickly. The bad is that you pretty much have to play multiple games to balance out the advantage early players have over those going later - each player being the start player once is almost a necessity - and kingmaker situations come up pretty routinely.

Simply a mindless exercise in rolling dice under the easily penetrated disguise of being a calculating betting game. Regardless of what happens coming up to the last corner, dependant upon who is (luckily) poised to roll the dice and make the final decisions the out turn will depend upon how many dots magically appear after that dice is thrown.

If you get excited by the lottery of dice, please do enjoy. For anyone who feels games should have moved on to allow a few balanced decisions to influence play, avoid like the plague.

A very silly waste of time. Probably good for children under 6 years old.
