A bit too random with the tile draw. The variant version in the rules helps somewhat. Nothing spectacular, but an ok game.

Cute and appealing in a creepy/Wintry sort of way. Place your Shiny Objects to attract as many Crows as possible. Abstract, puzzley tile-laying game with some nicely thematic elements.

Doesn't overstay its welcome. Even playing without the special chit powers is engaging. A little prone to AP, perhaps, but enough going on to make it non-calcuable. Rotating turn order and awesome crow pieces help a lot in making this fun.

Solid game. Fun with two. First player gets a pretty big advantage but it's remedied with the special ability tokens!

A bit abstracty...but the theme is there.

I recommend it!

I like the look of the game; especially the crow pieces. But I find that there are rarely interesting decisions to be made - most of the time your best play is fairly obvious.

Very fiddly! Tiles and crows should have been twice the weight & size to reduce said fiddliness. It's a cool theme and has some interesting mechanics. I like the art work. Very light family weight.

Board game rank 1802??? Hey, it ain't perfect, but it's a neat little abstract. You use your brain and the bits are cool. You don't need to be a rocket scientist by any means, but it's a cool addition to the abstract portion of my collection.

More or less good game lifted by greatly chosen theme. Though the graphics could have been better, it somewhat fits. Very nice components, good game, okay graphics, terrible box.
Depending on your group, you can have some terrible downtime.

Crows is an interesting tile placement, set collection game, designed around attracting crows to shiny objects placed by the players.

Crows move to the nearest, orthogonally visible shiny object which has an available path, or if they aren't distracted by some other object.

The point of the game is attracting crows, which distribute over the board from time to time.

Players take turns placing tiles, and then shiny objects- figuring out the best placements, or the ones that block most players from crows is the point.

All in all it's an interesting game, but I don't find it especially deep or satisfying after a few plays.

Starting this at a 6.75- solid effort, but not super shiny to this bird.

Strengths
Easy to learn.

The theme is unique.

The special tiles really add to the tactical nature of the game.

Weakness

A bit fiddly, the crows are bit difficult to pick up, but thematically they are fun and I wouldn't trade them for black cubes that are a little easier to move.

Other Thoughts

During the first game it didn't really seem like you plan from turn to turn, but by the 2nd game I could already see how you have to plan a turn or two in advance.

I tried to teach it to my girls but it's still too advanced for them. For what I could see the game has a lot of strategy and you really have to think ahead. After playing it with a grown up the score might increase.

Rather simple game on the surface with some unexpected depth. Tiles tend to a move around a lot when repositioning crows, and I wish those tiles were a bit larger. Nice filler, though, and probably easy to teach to kids.

This game is good for when you want a quiet think-y game experience. Since planning ahead cannot really happen player turns can be quite long as the "best" option is examined from every angle (we're talking AP prone). It is basically an very strategic and puzzle-y abstract with a neat theme and nice bits.

I thought moving crow meeples every few turns was tedious until I played Zombicide. OK. That's the only similarity between those games! Wait! Creatures are attracted to you and come your way but with shinies instead of noise. OK. That's the only other similarity between those games! Crows is simple, has chunky components, and thick tiles. Not competitive enough with two, but I bet it plays three well.

I think this game over-complicates itself and offers fiddliness where it's completely unneeded. Other than that it's not a bad game, but those qwirks still make the rating suffer.

Initial Impression: This tile laying game replaces Carcassonnes for me. It seems to move faster, there's a bit more to consider when optimizing points for scoring, and the mechanisms are fairly thematic for this semi-abstract game. Best of all, the kids like it too. The inter-player conflict in this game feels more direct than it does in Carc and with the special tiles there's definitely more opportunity to mess with your opponents' ability to score. I love the dark artwork, the wooden crows, and the shiny bits!
