Arsouf probably rates an 8, as one of the best half-hour wargames there is. The closest comparison that springs to mind for complexity, weight and excitement is Ogre. The other games are less good - probably 4's or 5's. I expended a lot of effort on house rules for Siege as a kid - any game with boiling oil counters has a lot of promise!

Arsouf is the best game. A great tactical game. Should Saladin attack immediately and pin Richard in, or should he wait until the knights are spread out along the coast?
Should Richard attack with his knights or use them to protect his baggage train.
Many years of playing left in this one!

I used to own this book (about 1978 to 1980) and played all the games. I was especially fond of Arsouf, which I played solo quite often trying different strategies.

Some fond memories of playing these games as a lad, particularly Siege and Border Raiders. Arsouf got a lot of play as well, but I don't remember much about Tournament.

I had this book as a kid and I actually played the games- the battle of Arsuf was pretty good, I seem to recall, though as I was young and impressionable. Anyway, worth buying...

Fun for kids.
A bit of info about Knights, very generalized, in the first half of the book, and some simple games in the second half.

Good introductory wargames for young people; sadly today we can't find nothing similar. The whole series brings nostalgic reminds, but the one-page rules could have been better. Arsouf is the best game in this book. Siege, Border Raiders and Tournament need some clarifications.

Average for battlegame books. Tournament is brainless and strangely addictive

Arsouf was the best of the 2 player games. The only multi-player (Tournament) was not much fun.

Great fun for kids, if the rules seem a little dated now. This book was probably responsible for me getting into hobby gaming, and the info in it hooked me too. We should lobby Usborne to release an updated version. Very fond memories.
