Just played it for the first time and we had tremendous fun. The game is oozing theme and the mechanics are nicely interwoven.

You have to balance the need to save fuel with the risk of going faster to win the race. Of course, I may be a bit biased since I know both designers.

Fun but oddly confusing. At least we were confused by the special equator/pole mechanics and whether to go forwards or backwards...

Almost there game about balloon racing around the world. I really liked some of the things here such as reversing currents depending on lattitude, etc. Just a little long.

A real sleeper, at least that's what everyone thought they were or could have been doing. I liked it but it is very sedate.

A tad long at 1:30 for two players (but playing as four). Would have been a good game in 1978 when there were fewer choices and playing a game to death to get all the intricacies was fun. Now, such devotion isn't practical. Traded for Sixmix, 10/23/2007.

An interesting race game that is not quite finished. The basic mechanism is quite nice in that on your turn you play a card down in front of you to move your balloon OR you can play to a discard pile any previously played card to move an opponents balloon. Then a secondary movement comes from Quadrant cards and depend upon which air stream you are in and height you are at. Movement is interrupted by Mountains which need to be climbed and no fly zones to be avoided.
Sadly random events interrupt the game play as does sudden changes of wind power provided by the quadrant cards which means that planning anything can be totally screwed. The Random events are also hit and miss, they can either affect you badly removing movement ability and cause a turn to be missed, or it may not affect you at all - this is all luck on the twist of a card.
It is hard to decide whether this is a semi-serious game trying to be fun or a fun game of chaos trying to portray an element of skill sadly it fails on both counts. The cross-over is not achieved and needs to be rehashed to balance off skill with fun and to make the random events less destructive and more all encompassing. My final complaint is that it was too long for what it was and took 3 of us up to the 2 hour mark - that did include trying to fathom out the rules, but still - it was a good 30 minutes too long.

Moves too slowly for a race game (even if they are balloons ;-), and we only had four players.

Takes a little bit to long and is very "slow" for a racing game. Some interesting mechanics, but at the end it can be a race to go "forever". Components are selfmade and the game was self published, so its not at any way state of the art now.
