I love it, I love it, I love it. What more can I say? I wish for an expansion with more items and rooms. Some small translation mistakes, but that's no problem. Co-op might be nice, too.

Rating for Cat and Chocolate only, NOT Texas Zombies. Probably doesn't have a lot of replay value with the same people, but this is still a charming whimsical game worth owning. The US re-theme for zombies misses the point entirely. Thumbs DOWN for Texas Zombies! :-p

Very simple rules and a very fun conversation game!
This game's rules which you get away from the situation with only your mouth are from table-talk role-playing games. ( The designers are members of a TRPG publisher. )

You have to explain how to get away from the troubled situation using your item cards which have only the title and the illustration, and other people judge it.

A really fun quick game when you have the right people playing. It needs imagination with the emphasis on FUN and humour. Can you tell an amusing story of your escape?

Light and silly fun and a blast to play with the right group. Some solutions are easier to come up with than others, but making a valiant attempt with terrible options is also to be rewarded.

This could easily have been a much higher rated game for me, as the activity is right up my alley. I love content creation, and I love having to react to random events with random items. So far so wonderful. I don't even mind the scoring, as it's only needed to make people care. But what I don't like is how much personality enters into the voting. There's something about me that makes people not want to support me that way. We played the game two nights in a row with different people, and in the first I proposed hitting the succubus with a potlid to knock her out. I was voted down. The next night, someone else proposed the exact same solution and was voted in. Instantly, my taste for the game took a hit. Suddenly, it's about the people, and not the activity. Still, I love the activity so much I can't ding it too much.

Very odd little Japanese game with some slightly dodgy English translations. It's good fun and very quirky but I'm really not sure about the whole 'teams' aspect as it feels like a bit of a crap shoot as there's really no way of figuring out who's on which team as part of the game play.

First impression (3 players): Hard to rate as it is not as much of a game as it is an excuse to have fun. In a right group this can be really fun experience.

You have a hand of 3 items and then you need to survive an event (something attacks you or stench of cellar is making you drop out etc.) in a haunted mansion by using exactly 1-3 of them. You simply tell a short "story" how this happens and others vote whether it is convincing enough. Usually you need to use items pretty creatively and there comes the fun part of the game.

There are only 40 item cards in the game and this is too few as you can go through them in just one game and if played too often there is easily too often similar scenarios being played out. If this becames problem it is easily fixed by using a set of blank cards and pens before game and have even weirder situations arising.

You're playing in two teams but you only know after the game who is in which team making it basically random who wins. In theory voting (tie breaking) and "scoring" work best when played with either 4 or 6 players but as it's not really a game it can be as fun with 3 or 5.

There are some things amiss in this game - the graphic design is uninspired, andreplayabilty is low, for instance. But we had a few good laughs, so it is definitely worth a play or two..

Really quick and interesting story telling game. You must use a certain number of item cards from you hand to describe how you escape the threat you are facing.

Players can then vote on whether you succeed and survive the threat or whether you fail to escape. Stories can be realistic or wildly complex i.e. using a banana to fend off a demon or wedging open the crushing walls with the reinforced birdcage !.

Its good fun and usually the wildest stories succeed as you manage to make the other players giggle. It doesn't seem to suffer from the usually problem when players are put on the spot as you are only incorporating 1-3 items into a story and the story can be anything.

Original Cat & Chocolate version of the game. Kind of a light roleplaying/storytelling experience. There's not really any competition but some of the ingenious solutions players devise to extricate themselves from bizarre situations can be funny.

Components: Simple, silhouette icons on the gear cards; fun (often gruesome) images on the scenario cards.

Experience: Fun storytelling. The scenario and available gear cards provides a needed constraint on the storyteller, so that they storyteller doesn't feel too pressured to create a story from scratch. I appreciate the “what would you do” problem solving, and having to spin a convincing yarn.

The random teammate is strange and unnecessary. I'm concerned that the scenario cards will become stale quickly.

I thought I would dislike the theme, because I hate zombies. But this isn't strictly zombies (there are cults, monsters, aliens, mobsters, etc.), and I get to create my own victories.

Average storytelling game - as always requires the right group. The hidden team aspect is only there to keep people honest in their voting. It's an interesting mechanism for that thought a bit superfluous as with storytelling games winning is not really the point (or keeping score for that matter). Limited replayability unless there come out with expansions.

I really cannot see where the game is. No rules supporting story telling and the idea of judging whether or not sth might be possible in the HAUNTED MANSION seems weird to me. Maybe I will use item cards separetely as a kind of trigger for storytelling.

Same concept as The Big Idea. It's Apples to Apples for the creative set. This time, though, you're running from zombies. That's just plain better. Has an extra "hidden team" role that is completely unnecessary, and only used to make people think twice about meta-voting.
