One of the best, if not the best, purely strategic games out there, involving out-thinking your opponents, a little bit of diplomacy between the players, and a lot of strategy while grabbing for power in the Italy.

Horribly underrated game, probably because of its harsh learning curve.

Even though I've only played this one once, I knew immediately that I liked it. Components = GREAT! Monopoly-like feel without being just a dice fest. Involves blind bidding and strategy. Can have a kingmaker problem though, but not enough to detract from my rating.

A much better themed game than San Marco. I always find this game tight and usually goes down to the final round to determine a winner.

Thats a majority game I like because it always tough to win. I like the manner the game developes. It' s not a heavy game but for a relatively short game it is strategic enough.

Best played with the full contingent of 4 players. Still one of my favourite "bluffing" and double-guessing games which leaves a tickling sensation in my stomach each time I play it. Easily the best game of the Goldsieber series.

Pretty good influence game. There is blind bidding, which I don't usually like, but it's not a complete crap shoot - you can bid with some strategy.

Since it's classic Goldsieber, the bits in this game are fantastic. Heck, you have cardboard 'hats' that are placed on big wooden pawns to show majority ownership! This one isn't the 'best' area majority game out there, but it certainly ranks as the one with some of the nicest bits.

I really like this game. The hidden bidding is surprisingly strategic, and the ability to change the outcome with a "rolling" addition aspect is also very cool. I still haven't figured out how possible it is to reel in a front-runner, but I'm sure more plays will help to iron that out. It can be a bit of a brain-burner.

After a few more plays, I think this might be one of those that is much better with 4 than 3.

Good bluffing game, with lots of guessing and also some luck. Keeping the leader from winning at the endgame is not always an easy task. It allows a little planning and plays well in around 1 hour. Maybe it would be even better if it allowed 5 (maybe even 6) players.

This is a great Colovini game, perhaps one of his best! It feels less abstract than most of his other designs, and had some real interesting mechanics. Why haven't people made more noise about this game? I think this one flew under the radar somehow! Nice game. Very underrated.

Good area control mechanism. You really need to pay attention to the order of voting. You can get some good combinations if you can take the areas properly. It's sometimes more important to get first in a region you don't need immediately than to take second in one you need.

We liked it quite a bit. There's a fair amount going on, with a nice 'rolling' revelation of the districts to be challenged and other aspects of the game which make it much more subtle than the blind bidding it may appear to be on first blush. Not perfect but surprisingly good for an Adamspilet bargain buy.

I have played a lot of Colovini games and this is probably the best one. Colovini tends to have a bit of abstract randomness in his games but this one is straight up strategy.

There are 7 regions and each year there is an election in each region. At the start of the year the players place their influence (round tokens valued 0,1,1,2,2,3,3) in at most 4 different regions. Each player chooses one regoin (via their set of region cards) and 1-4 token to place into the region, the cards are then revealed simultaneously and the tokens go into the region face down. This is done 4 times. Then the elections happen and the person who placed the most in a given region puts 2 houses there, second place puts 1 house.

You can convert houses to palaces, the first palace to be built in a given region costs 3 houses, the next one 4 and so on. To win the game you need to have one palace in each of the 6 regions that allow palaces to be built, or 7 palaces in 5 regions, or 8 palaces in 4 regions.

There's a bit more to the game, but I won't go into it here. I liked the game after one play, but now after 3 plays I really appreciate it.

This is a good little bluff, strategy, and area control game. I like how it slowly gives you more information, and I also like how it plays in under an hour. I usually feel I have played a full game, and had some challenges.

Just about unavailable. A pretty 3/4 player area control game set in Venice. Has an odd resemblance to Monopoly, but only in that you build up houses to become hotels palaces.

The blind bidding has much depth with lots of subtlety going on and rating may go up in the future, have only played a couple of games so far.

A nice blind voting game that has people use chits to drop different vote values in the different districts of venice. I like the blind aspect as noone knows exactly what kind of voting points you have in an area, but once you get behind it's hard to get back.
