This is an excellent game. I think this might be the one that gets people thinking differently about what a Pyramid Game can be.

I have never played this particular game, but it still gets a 10 due to the component quality and the massive number of other great games you can play with Loony Pyramids.

NO GAME SHELF IS COMPLETE WITHOUT A SET!!!!!

Nice press-your-luck game. It has a couple of ways you can catch up if you fall behind, so it always feels like you have a chance.

I haven't played it enough to cement my opinion yet, but when this is released (in June 2011) it has the potential to replace Treehouse as my intro-to-pyramids game.

Full disclosure: I was one of a number of people who provided feedback on the final drafts of the rules. I wasn't otherwise involved in development.

Excellent Press Your Luck style game. Quick enough to be a great filler. Very luck-based as dice games are wont to be, but so what? This is a good game.

Very similar to Farkel in its simplicity, push-your-luck feel, and Let's Play Again factor. I prefer IceDice to both Zombie Dice and Cthulhu Dice.

Contains both IceDice and Launchpad 23 (which now has its own entry on BGG). They are both light games. My bag came with the Electric Yellow pyramids, which may have been a mistake but I'm not trading them in; they look great!

Update: sold a friend on this game. He likes "press-your-luck" games.

Update: sold yet another friend on this. Could be the "break-out" game for Looney Pyramids.

Update: sheesh, third friend bought pyramids.

Set with (the name says it) two very über-cool new dice, 2 rainbow stashes of pyramids (red-yellow-blue-green-black opaque) and a launchpad 23 gameboard all stored in a nice pyramid bag.
Rules for 2 games included, but a lot more can be played with this set.

The IceDice rules are fun enough, and the game is the best way to acquire Looney Pyramids these days, leading to hundreds of other gaming possibilities. Great design and packaging, super-clear rules.

The benefit to IceDice is that the pyramids can be used for other games akin to dominoes or a deck of cards. Like a deck of cards not all the games are winners, but some are excellent.

Cheapest, most efficient way to get the 5 basic colors. Comes with a 3x3 Launchpad 23 board. The score thus reflects Launchpad 23 and IceDice together, plus the usefulness I've gotten out of everything in this package for designing games.
With even 1 of these sets, you can play many other games as well. Shop around and you can find IceDice for $13-15.

I really basic dice game with some chance taking. Do you continue to roll or lock in what you have, the risk gets greater each time to roll with a chance to lose everything. If you roll the same colour and piece that a player has you can steal it from them. Thats all there is to this. Might be an alright kids game I suppose...

Fairly standard press-your-luck fair. The Pyramids are nice if you're into that sort of thing. A bit of choice determining what colors to go for and how to screw your opponent.

The pyramid pieces allow for amassive amount of creativity and game design.

IceDice itself, however, is mediocre.

IceDice only entered my collection because I needed the pyramids to play the brilliant Zendo. It's a simple push-your-luck game that I found very reminiscent of Simply Ingenious and similarly uninspiring.

The pyramids and dice are, of course, great.

My rating is for the press-your-luck game 'icedice'. It has little new to offer, and it does not create a tense game. The chance of busting is too high, which leads to players making easy conservative choices. The game ends up being low tension and clearly just luck.

I think the best press-your-luck games are the ones where busting is relatively rare and/or the calculation for how unlike it is is hard to make. That temps players to keep going just a little more, and create tense situations. That allows player decisions and kill to shine, if only in the form of being good at calculating risks and judging average payouts. Ice Dice does not have these properties, so I found it weak.
