Robust game about building haziendas and watering your crops by building dams to control the flow of two rivers. Has a neat mean streak because the workers can kill other workers, a clever dam can send an entire farm into a time of draught. Very fun.

Don't burn your brain on this one the play is chaotic; in a 4 player game you are not able to effectively predict the board past your next move. Still a ‘Dam’ good game

Brilliant thematic integration, everything makes sense here. The unique river mechanism makes the game very eventful. Works surprisingly well with two players but it's better with more players.

One of the hidden gems in my opinion. Awesome mechanic with damming the river. This damming of the rivers is the main driving force of the game. Just when you think you have the win in your pocket, someone changes the flow of the river and you're left out to dry.

And the money aspect of the game just throws another curve ball in. You need to make the river flow such a way, that you can earn money. 'Cause without the money you can't build buildings. And without the buildings you can't win.

This game should hit the table a lot more often.

Dos Rios is a fantastic tactical area control/worker placement game which as very quirky but works fantastically well. It is one of my favourite games. Best with two players where it can be vicious, by four players it gets slightly random, but its still lots of fun.

Eiye yie yie! A fantastic game of taming the mills in Mexico. Build Casas, Haciendas and Move the river to farm seems docile enough. Alas, no finally a euro that relies on direct confrontation (I know there are others, but they are too few). The screwage factor is high, but even still it is fun to have your guys charge down from the hills and take over farmland. So far, my favorite game of the year, could rate higher with more plays. I will only play this with two or three players and with a timer, still hits the table often.

The ebb & flow of the ever-changing river(s). When we first played this game, we missed the fact that you can delay the current harvest in favor of the next one in line. That makes a big difference and adds another important decision.

Die Frage nach der richtigen Taktik stellt die Herausforderung des Spiels dar und lässt es über viele Partien immer wieder interessant and spannend werden. The quest for the correct tactic in any given situation provides the game's challenge and makes it interesting and exciting over many replays.

Stop crying and learn to play the game. If your men keep getting booted off the board, expend a movement point and either group them in two's or put them on higher ground. It's SUPPOSED to be random - each turn presents new opportunity and fresh choices. . .. the question is if you think that's fun. . which, I do. . .I'd play this anytime. . .plus, it isn't a huge investment of time resources. . .just over an hour with 4. . .

Very nice components wise and a neat mechanic for the river flow make this game of interest. First few games seem chaotic, but already the game has started to feel more strategic. Downside is the wait between turns while your opponent(s) weigh up each move. A winner so far, may improve further with more plays.

This is a excellent game of positioning and tactics. The game did have slightly more control with 3 rather than 4 but either way it requires thinking ahead while maximizing your current turn. You also have to force your opponents out of key positions. Changing the course of the river is a very clever game mechanic.

I've only played it with 2 and it was fun although not as cut-throat as I hoped. I love the river damming mechanism and the theme. Can't wait to play a bit more and discover the deeper strategies: blocking, when/where to build for long-term investment (if that's even possible, the game is extremely tactical), etc. Beautiful bits.

The idea of this game is very creative. Prosperity must be gained from the river, which can be dammed and redirected. The puzzle-piece borders keep the variable board pieces tight, so that the pieces stay on nicely. The river pieces look great on the board. Both the shape of the rivers and the layout of the board provide alot of variety between games. We play this 2-player, which takes about an hour. There is quite a bit to consider on each turn.

Interesting mechanic. Definately encourages head-to-head, nasty confrontation. Not really complicated or terribly sophisticated, but all player interaction since mercilessness will get you far.

While the game can drag on at the end (with 4 players), the high level of screwage makes this very fun for me. I have played it with two and the game did not have the same problem. (received in math trade 2006-06-02)

I really like this game. It "kind of" has a feel of Settlers without trading (and I don't like the trading in Settlers), and with actual confrontation (you can run workers out off from high ground or with more workers). And, redirecting the rivers is very fun and pretty effective to the game strategy. Plays quick, too.
