To break it down, this is a fast fun card game that has a bit of strategy and some luck to it. I'm not as in love with it as I want to be, but I do like it. We played 5 or 6 games rather quickly with two players. I do think this would be more interesting as a 3 plus player game. (We played 3 in the demo.) It's creative and I could see whipping this out as a palate cleanser after a long game of Battlestar or Arkham Horror.

Nifty little filler card game. I prefer others (with a little more theme) much more than this one though.

A kind of press-your-luck/matching card game with probably the simplest game mechanic I have ever seen in a card game. Deal six cards into your hand from your personal deck. Play three cards into the machine, but you can only play a card if the symbol(s) on the edges matches a card already in play. Use the eradicator cards to destroy cards in play and also to prevent the machine from activating. Once activated, the machine will not stop until it reaches the end. Once the machine has ended its course, scoring commences. 1 pt per card in the machine that activated (flipped) and 2 pts per catalyst card that activated (flipped). Play three rounds; person with the most points at the end wins.

very, very simple to play and teach new players. Press your luck by making the most elaborate machine but beware of your opponents and their eradicator cards.

The Impossible Machine is the game where players build ridiculously complicated contraptions to do simple things. Why turn on the TV, when you can have the bowling ball hit a pin, to pull a string, to let the marble loose!? Players earn points by getting their parts, with the right type of momentum, into the machine as they work together to build ever bigger and better machines.

Simple game of attempting to place cards by following connections. Ok filler, but not much to it.

We made a co-op variant that's been fun, but still not worth more than a few plays.

Cool artwork, but placing key information on both the right and left sides of the cards makes them difficult to fan out and read in your hand. The gameplay is very light with a puzzle-solving feel as you try to fit your cards into the machine. Overall, an average game with annoying card design.

A clever game that uses Rube Goldberg contraptions as its theme. Not a complicated game, simply match the card inputs and outputs with your cards to try and place as many cards as possible in the time remaining.

Only played with 5, which is very chaotic -- no strategy is possible and tactical choices are limited. The luck of the cards can be punishing.

I'm not a huge fan of filler games and this one offers even less than usual for the genre.

A very simple game of matching cards up. Seems like it's incredibly luck dependent to the point of almost not being fun. I don't really like the way the game works, but it's fun enough for me to play as a time killer. It's not great, but it works.

The game was easy to learn, I would recommend it as something to play with young players. But after a few rounds with my gaming group we found our selves wishing there was more to it. It did not seem to keep our interest. We quickly became bored with it and have shown no interest in returning to it.

Played once with 5 players. Strategy is often lost when games are played with a lot of players as it can become impossible to plan ahead for your next turn. This kills the enjoyment of the game for me since all you end up doing is reacting to the current situation given the cards that you are holding. This was certainly the case in the game I played, and perhaps this game has more strategy with fewer players, but I doubt it.

Not terribly impressed after one two-player game. I was hoping for something like another Factory Fun, but Impossible Machine, you're no Factory Fun. Amusing, whimsical artwork on too-thin cards; a few vague areas in the rules. With some rule clarifications, will give it at least one more try with fingers crossed. [1 play]

The Impossible Machine is basically a dominoes variant, where instead of numbers, you match various symbols which connect funky contraptions.

The contraption artwork adds little to no value to the game, other than they can be entertaining to look at, but you'd have just as much fun looking at the art than actually playing the game. In fact, the artwork actually muddies the information that is clear in dominoes, as they used some symbology that is very difficult to tell apart (for example, three arrows are used, and they all look the same other than orientation).

Overall, you may as well just play dominoes, unless you need ideas for wacky Rube Goldberg devices.
