Ok. This is a good game. It reminds me of Drum roll, another economic game in which the financial aspect is hidden behind the richness of the theme. Actually these 2 games have more in common than meets the eye. The different abstract-coloured cubes/needs of the performers/animals is another similarity.

The best part in Petz is explaining the rules! after that, the first play is a bit introductory. On your second play you begin to realize the economic engine a bit better. It is a good game but not one that will have you jumping up and down from excitement. The choices are balanced and the theme is very rich. It is a perfectly fine semi-economic euro with many small innovations. The rules actually sound a lot harder than the gameplay really is. Its complexity is the same as Dungeon Lords, and its difficulty is lighter.

Amazing theme, inspired mechanics. All around amusing time. Humor of the creators is amazing The learning curve is bit high, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be engrossed.

A game full of chaotic fun, imp placement and monster wrangling. A decent amount of rules overhead means it would be better with repeated play. Love the theme.

Never enough time to do everything, and the better spots are hotly contested. Enjoyed the ability to see what is happening in the following round.

A worker placement game wherein you aren't just putting workers on empty spaces, but rather bidding in secret how many workers to send out on errands with the bigger groups getting first dibs. I really like this mechanic as it downplays the importance of first player in a worker placement game.

Goofy theme that I absolutely love. Deep enough on strategy, but the theme keeps it light.

It's a fun and challenging game with lots of theme. I really enjoy the puzzle of assigning needs cards to your pets and having to work to meet those needs or deal with the consequences. I don't love the blind bidding element that requires you to place workers and gold into groups.

SO much better than Dungeon Lords. Still, lots of randomness. You can plan for it, and that's part of the puzzle of figgerin' things out, but sometimes that randomness will just completely and utterly hose you. And that sucks.

Very fun and kind of unique worker placement from Vlaada Chvatil. The theme is amazing (buying and caring for crazy monsters in hopes to sell them for the highest price to an owner of a dungeon). The art is amazing. The components are amazing - especially the little goblin figures and the monster tiles with rotating needs.

The theme is actually original and funny.

The gameplay is typical Czech design: finicky, tabulative and administrative.

It is much better than Dungeon Lords.

Nevertheless, mostly fun, especially with the silly theme.

The worker placement phase is novel and really fun. The theme is just great and really comes through during the game. I love Dungeon Petz.

Don't let the lighthearted theme fool you. This is quite a complicated game that requires lot of planning ahead in turns. Theme, which is very amusing, definitely comes across. Very fiddly, per the usual from Vlaada Chvátil.
