Minor axis allies expansion to ASL. Includes armies of Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Bulgaria. Hungarian troops have a different color code to let them fight the Romanians.

Other than the cheapness of the box there's nothing to dislike here. For an expansion that covers 5 separate nationalities (Romanian, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Slovakian and Croatian), it had to be huge. As is they cut some stuff to save on counters, but few are going to miss the various truck variants and the like. Giving the Hungarians a separate color scheme was necessary, given how the war actually went with the Hungarians actually fighting the Romanians.

The scenarios look good. The necessary errata for the rulebook is here as is the additional material for solitaire ASL. The module has the definite "kitchen sink" feel, and in this case it's a good thing.

Just one more game to go and ASL will finally be finished. It's already going to be over 21 years :-(

Seriously, it's nice to play out some tactical situations from early in the war with varied units. Very different decisions to be made.

Well, it's an ASL product, so it gets the floor rating of 8 for such a thing. I haven't actually played any of the scenarios yet or used any of the units. The shipping box cover is much nicer than the wierd green thing in the photos, although I am not enamored of MMPs switch to low-quality Gamers-style boxes instead of the sturdy AH-style ones. It's a small thing, I know, but for a $100+-list game, I do feel entitled to a decent box.

I think what you're really paying for here are the boards and scenarios. Access to Rumanian and Hungarian tanks is not going to justify a $100-ish investment when we've got the immense British, Russian, German, and US OOBs to explore. Plus, Croix de Guerre and Hollow Legions both had more versatile OOBs and both were both under $50. Heck, For King and Country (the British) is "only" list $80. But from initial inspections, the scenarios look good, and I like the maps, even if there isn't one that is a real attention-grabber like the ones in Croix de Guerre or the PTO games.

Still, ultimately I think that if an expansion like this is costing this much, it's definitively time to switch to the ASLSK-style maps and be more intelligent about constraining the proliferation of counters (did we really need dual OOBs, in Green and Green-in-a-grey-box? And do we really need this many individual counters for each minor variation of tank models?). I'll buy it, I am (or was anyway) a die-hard. But evaluated strictly, I think this module is too expensive. Almost any other major module in the ASL line represents better value, OOB-wise, but this is one of the most expensive.

Excellent quality, MMP at its best. The only reason I didn't rank it a 10 is because Axis minors are not my cup of tea. That said, the components are outstanding, the armory notes informative and well-researched. If it wasn't so expensive, I'd buy two of them.

At last! I think the Axis Minors have far more potential than the Allied Minors. Of course, it's not all tin-cans and manure-powered converted steamrollers; the late war Hungarians get to play with Tigers and Panthers too.

The last of the 'original' ASL modules weighs in with lots of counters, lots of boards, and some interesting scenarios. Will these scenarios reach more people than the earlier 'minor' country scenarios? Only time will tell, but it looks like a worthy addition, and closing chapter to the original ASL concept. No other single wargaming project has ever reached so far, and excited so many players. That alone should be worth a special 'Charlie' award.

A great module for a great game. Doesn't compare to BV with its contents and price but still awesome.
A small complain is that the scenarios don't include any infantry+guns only scenarios, vehicles are needed in every one of them.

The SASL and DYO stuff were useless to me but it is clear why they are included.
The maps look great. I immediately saw some new problems appearing while trying to cross those mountains or streets!

Well, not much new is to be said about this product. A new module is always welcome to the best game ever made. More playing options means more ways to enjoy the life!

Adds a lot of Axis allied vehicles that most people don't care about that much. Scenarios are all large-ish and some are not overly balanced.

You need it for the Axis minor counters however.
