Now this is how you do an expansion! I haven't tried everything yet, though I do like the added variety with the characters and cards. The reason I rate this so highly is because of the Cylon Fleet. I was on the fence about this, but I think having this in the game makes it feel complete. No longer do you have to wait around for ships to ambush you out of nowhere. Now the only way to truly get rid of Cylon ships and Base Stars is to blow them out of the sky. Best of all, playing as a pilot doesn't feel pointless anymore. This is just such a great addition that I would highly recommend it as a first expansion to anyone looking to go beyond the base game.

This is my favourite boardgame. With a traitor mechanism that fosters mistrust and suspicion amongst players, some of which are trying to work together, this game is wonderful in its semi-cooperative nature and the tension in creates in the fight not just against the game but also those trying to destroy you from within. That it well replicates the TV series is an added bonus.

Despite a sense of continuing despair and doom as resources ever dwindle, the game is never over as the humans persevere to snatch victory and the cylons look for the final blow. Human wins are always close and cheered, cylon wins never produce disgust at the game time wasted but with anticipation about how to next defeat the toasters.

Despite the numerous things that can be done in a turn and the various rules that govern the various aspects of the game, they are individually actually not too complex and with repeated plays, can be relatively straightforwardly learnt.

Obviously with my obsessive stats that I keep, I adore this game!

All stats include expansions
Overall wins: 29/59 (49%)

As cylon: 11/17 (65%)

Cylon Fleet Board fixes the main problem of the base game - clumped CACs won't matter any more!
Conflicted Loyalties makes it slightly easier for cylons to hide
Ionian Nebula brings all sort of minor characters out to play

CFB can be gamed if you're so inclined (here's a suggestion - don't!)
CFB makes the cylons far more likely to achieve a damage victory and far less likely to achieve any other kind

As with all of the BSG expansions, there are several components here that I've only used with my PBF group, and not yet on the tabletop. Still, I've decided this is my favorite BSG expansion, and probably the one I'd suggest new players buy first. My comments and observations:

New Characters: Overall, a better and more interesting selection than Pegasus, and less bloated than Daybreak. Cally is my favorite support character by far, Gaeta is long overdue and Tory is possibly the best President in the game (along with Daybreak Lee Adama). I haven't really figured out Anders yet, but he looks like an interesting challenge (and is already a favorite of my wife's for different reasons ).

New Skill cards: The 0-strength cards with their Skill Check effects seem to be primarily suited for making the Destiny deck a little more intriguing, rather than simply "will it be positive or negative?". If these cards turn up in people's hands, they're more likely to be discard fodder, but super-clever players (not me) will find ways to make them work for them in skill checks. The 6-strength cards are great, and I'm glad there's only one of each: when these cards get played for their text, it's an event! At first I was surprised that the Consequence mechanic is so little-used, but after a couple of games, I find that if it comes up even once or twice that's more than enough.

New Loyalty deck and Execution rules: In theory, the possibility of only one (or no) Cylon is kind of cool. In practice, though, it kind of sucks if you're the only Cylon (although I have won a game as a solo Cylon ). Still, I suppose this fix was necessary in order to keep people from abusing the Airlock.

Conflicted Loyalties: I've only used these in PBF games. They're amazing on paper, but like the Cylon Leader, it's a base hit that should have been a home run. The Final Five cards seem to be more fun so far than the Personal Goals, which is the opposite of what I expected. If you own the Daybreak expansion, the Mutiny cards in that set do a great job of forcing the Humans to work against themselves and inadvertently sow discord, so I'd suggest using those instead.

Cylon Fleet Board: I've softened my original stance of "we will use this ALL THE TIME" quite a bit. It's still by far my favorite part of Exodus, and possibly my favorite BSG expansion element overall. For the humans, the Cylon ship threat becomes more constant and steady, but also more manageable (definitely better than waiting ages for a Cylon attack Crisis or getting 6 in a row!). And who doesn't want to be the CAG and/or fly a Mark VII? For the Cylons, the Basestar Bridge introduces more options and gives the Sympathizer more to do if he ends up on Team Cylon (if you're still using the Sympathizer, of course). And if you find having the Pegasus board helps out the Humans too much, the CFB will take care of that.

On the other hand, the CFB definitely adds to the complexity of the game, and the Cylon ships can add up to an overwhelming amount pretty quickly. After playing a couple of PBF games without the CFB, I found I didn't miss it as much as I thought I would. I still prefer to play with it, but I'm perfectly fine with leaving it out, if that's what the rest of the group wants to do.

Ionian Nebula: Again, only used in PBF. This module is for the hardcore fans of both the game and the TV series. In fact, I can't imagine using this with my face-to-face game group for a good long while. Very unpredictable and not for the faint of heart. I used to think that only 7 cards for the Crossroads phase was low, but considering we won't be using this module much, it's probably okay.

Recorded plays are for games using the Ionian Nebula option.

The Cylon Fleet Board is a terrific addition in my mind, and lends to a feeling of dread over the Cylon Attack Cards. While I wouldn't turn down a play with CAC instead of CFB, I definitely prefer the latter.

I've yet to play with Allies, or the Ionian Nebula, but love the new Loyalty cards, and huge influx in Crisis cards. While I have all the expansions, this is surely one not to miss.

We only play with the characters, skill cards, and crisis cards (minus the ones that reference CAG). Cylon fleet was decent for a while... but became too predictable. So we've gone back to going with Cylon Attack Cards with Daybreak.

Other extra stuff added by Exodus is pretty bad to be quite honest.

The second of three expansions, Exodus adds a series of optional "modules" to choose from, as well as a thankfully-optional new endgame. It's greatest addition, the Cylon Fleet Board, replaces the Cylon attack cards from previous boxes and actually makes pilots useful, in addition to adding the CAG leadership role.

Comments:
This is better than the Pegasus expansion. The Cylon Fleet board is a perfect edition to the BSG game. The Ionian Nebula portion I need to play more to really see how I feel about it. After one player it may not be all that I hoped it would be, but I still have hope that it will be an essential edition to the game. The new skill cards are awesome, and the CAG title is a great edition as well. I will definitely be playing with at least half of the mechanics from this expansion from now on.

Much more fun than the previous expansion. The trauma mechanic is interesting, and the new destination is fun. Corrects some of the issues with the Pegasus expansion's execution rules.

When combining with the Pegasus expansion, you may want to house-rule the new instant-success on a location-based challenge to not work on the Airlock on the Pegasus. My gaming groups have found that this combo can break the game, especially when Cally is a cylon (two guaranteed executions is a lot of guaranteed executions). This may be colored by the fact that we've never had Cally not be a cylon...

(Up from 4.75 base game)
In general, this is a beneficial expansion, and most of the things in here get used regularly.

New loyalty cards are a nice addition, as this now gives you more options besides just 'good' & 'bad'. It does result in more complexity, since you have to have cards out of the game for when someone completes a goal. This can also lead to situations where people change sides other than in the sleeper phase.

The new scenario is kind of a bust. I like the idea of adding in other characters from the show who aren't being played. Having a bunch of NPCs with their own very simple goals running around sounds cool, but it kind of breaks down when you realize how little control you have over whether you collect good or bad tokens. Really, it's just a bunch of extra rules overhead for very little payoff.

The final addition is the most well-received. Adding in the fleet board means that pilots are always in demand and always have something to do. This can make the game impossibly difficult if your pilot(s) turn on you, and it forces you to make the most of your ships' abilities to shoot down enemies lest you be drowned with raiders in the late game. The new CAG role helps mitigate this, as does the new fighter class. The only thing I don't like is the degree of power it gives revealed cylons, since they can do some serious damage with the abilities on this board. Moving the jump track backwards is brutal, as is activating dual basestars or a swarm of raiders repeatedly.

Related to this, one of the reason that ship attacks get more potent is that it's more difficult to repair. With 2 expansions in, we've added a significant number of cards to all of the skill decks, diluting the original mechanics and making the game much less approachable to new players. This is most noticeable in the way that repair cards have become much more scarce.

Like the other expansions this is only needed if you really play a lot, however of the three I think this one adds the most interesting modification with the Cylon Fleet game board. It changes the way the Cylon fleet jumps in, so it is more like a continuous chase. There are also a mix of new cards which are useful to those who play a lot and want to mix it up. Like most of the expansions, only get it if you want a change after playing may times.
