AH could be a lot of fun. I think it has potential. My biggest beef with it is the lack of challenge it provides. I have played prolly a half dozen times and never felt as tho the game stood much of a chance. I would like to try out some of the rules tweaks suggested here to see if they breathe some difficulty into the game. Bumped it up a half point after playing with the Curse of the Dark Pharaoh expansion and Herald rules.
I REALLY like Big City. I agree with the reviewers that say its a better game with 2 or 3 people, but I didnt find 4 players to be too chaotic to play. That being said, I dont think I would ever try this game with 5.
After having played it a few more times I have revised my rating down a little. Its still a good game but for me it just takes too darn long to play and unless the Overlord squashes the heroes like a bug in the very beginning, the heros get so powerful that by the end its hopeless for the Overlord - Or maybe I just suck at being the Overlord...
Great game that I have found goes over well with gamers and non gamers alike. I find it very entertaining when I can see every new players "lightbulb" moment when all the mechanics click and they "get" it. I have yet to introduce this to anyone who didnt like it.
Interestingly enough, this is like my wife's "autistic game" or something. In general she is not a very good gamer. She tends to usually torpedo herself somehow or another. But not in Elfenland. She has some bizarre attunement to it. At this point she is undefeated.
