Period: n/a (Abstract) Map Size: n/a Note: Garden game. In the summer; in the shade with a cold drink. I used to work and socialise with a bunch of South Africans and I never beat any of them at Backgammon. It must be hugely popular down there and the general standard is subsequently higher. I also spent the Summer of `86 backbacking around Greece, sitting in Taverna after Taverna, playing what they call Tavli. Happy times!
Very much a learning game (especially when it came to combat) but great fun. Me, as Dracula, managed to run around unmolested in Spain for awhile before sailing up to Liverpool. By this point the hunters were on my trail and I had a real sense of being hemmed in. Narrowly escaped into the English Channel when we called it a night.
Even so, I think I played very poorly as Dracula. We got all the way to the second despair token without me having garnered a single point of influence.
It was hysterical to listen to the "logical" deductions the hunters were making that so aften sent them in the wrong direction. What was Van Helsing doing in Athens while I was in Manchester? Lots of tricks, bluffs and nuances to learn :-)
