I like the idea that the dungeon is made up during gameplay, but wonder if this means a lot of downtime during the game.
From my first impression, I would probably house-rule two things: Doors are 2 squares wide (to prevent bottle-neck situations), and monsters can each choose individually if they move&attack, or attack&move.

The visual effect of this game is impressive. Actually, that alone - without a test game - sold the game to me when I saw it displayed at Essen SPIEL.I liked the general idea of including a battlefield with centre and flanks, but found that battles were over too quickly, so we house-ruled that units had to break through to the other side to force a victory (if I recall correctly).
However, we seldom played it, and when I downsized my collection, this game was among those being sold.

A quick and easy to learn mixture of collectible card game and miniature battle - both on a small scale, though.
An excellent game for those 10 minutes between longer games.

Only played once so far, but the first impression was good.
But don't let yourself be fooled - there is no real murder case to solve here like in Clue(do) or other games like this.
Actually, what you do is to try to frame your prefered suspect for murder! ;-)
There are different murder cases to play, with different event card decks. The playable detectives all have their "life-stories" to go through - to the bitter or the good end.
Nothing in this "murder mystery" game is fixed and needs to be unconvered - instead, each player DESIGNS (or tries to, anyway) HIS murder case. You try to frame your prefered suspect, you create a conspiracy theory, you try to bring your life episodes to a good end, and you try to bring those of other detectives to a bitter one.
Once you get your head around this and the game's complex rules, I assume this can be a rewarding experience.
Don't expect to get everything right in your first game - that will just teach you how to play the game, show you what you have to remember next time, and understand what you did wrong.
I'm now waiting for my next chance to play this and hopefully I'll have the full Android-experience then.

Update 2012-Sep-03: Had my second game yesterday and a lot of fun. Next time, though, I think I will try a little variant with the conspiracy puzzle, and only award +4VP each time a player is the first to establish a link to one of the 8 outer groups, rather than awarding them for completing a row of the puzzle.

Update 2013-April-07: We played with the normal conspiracy puzzle rules, and it was fine. Limiting these points would just limit the chances of some players to score points.

The game has good artwork (if you like the style), and it is a nice idea that you have to fight for your cards rather than just buying them like in other deck-building games (which this one essentially is).
Haven't played it for ages, and therefore would trade it away. Cards are sleeved, and I modified the box insert a bit so the cards still fit in the box.

The game components look gorgeous, and the rules are easy to learn and fast to play.
However, with both players trying to make sure that their troops are always supported so they are able to battle back, it can become a bit slow... especially when players are waiting for cards that never come up...

HârnMaster is my favourite roleplaying system, and BattleLust is a simplified HârnMaster combat system.
The rules system is good, but the publication could use some more "meat".
It would have been nice to have suggested scenarios and campaign rules to play at least some of the military conflicts on Hârn.

A nice "hidden traitor" game, which benefits from more than 3 participating players.
Also, the players should make sure that they understand all the traitor cards and their special rules.
Also, especially with new players, it might be a good idea to rule that everybody looking at a card should act like he has to read some text - even if there isn't much. Otherwise, Cylon players are in danger to give themselves away to easily.

This game is easy to learn and quickly explained - that makes it very accessable for non-gamers.
I also love the re-play value this game has thanks to its 50 scenarios.
The first phase can become a bit boring, when you just keep adding rooms and reading cards (mainly event cards), as there are a lot of rooms with card icons, and movent has to stop when entering such rooms. Player could feel like they can't do a lot.
That usually changes once the haunt phase starts - then the game can become a crazy race for the lifes of the survivors.
Sometimes, the scenarios can be over quite quickly, just because the important rooms are already revealed and close to each other. This is (of course) a bit unsatisfying.
On the other hand, other scenarios can be a crazy race against time (and each other) and make you burst with laughter.
Games never last too long, so even if you had a "bad pull" in one game, the next one to make up for it can just be played straight afterwards.

I once read a description that said "Blood Feud is like Shogun with helicopters!" - and this actually is not a bad description for what to expect.
I love the different elements of the game, the various gangster types, vehicles, and business houses, penthouses etc.
The game allows player elimination, which might put some people off, especially because it has a long play time. There are some house rule suggestions on BGG to address this, though.
Game length could easily shortened by reducing the income target necessary to win, or by agreeing on a fixed number of game rounds.

This game probably does a resonably good job in following history - but for my group, the scenario of this game was limiting the players too much.
If you prefer strategy games where every player starts with the same ressources and tries to build up an empire, this is probably not the right game for you.

A silly party game (in a good sense). But you have to have the right people at the gaming table to get the most out of this one. The games LIVES with trash-talk. If you limit yourself to pointing the foam guns and ducking out or staying in, without adding some kind of acting, this game will probably be quite unsatisfying.
Wasn't really the right game for the people I played it with, so it didn't give us much - which is why I traded it away.

As I played Rackham's Confrontation (2nd and 3rd edition) quite a lot and have fond memories of this time, I have a soft spot for everything set on Aarklash - even if it's just within the city walls of Cadwallon.
The game looks beautiful and is easy to learn and fast to play.
Don't expect a lot of depth and complexity, because this is not what this game is about.
It's a fun little race for treasure, with some possibilities to hinder (and annoy) the other thieves on the board.
The idea to include different scenarios each with their own specific rules is nice.

A B-movie card game that is a parody on all these clichee adventure movies out there. The game can be a lot of fun (especially the first few times, when all the quotes on the cards are new and let you burst out with laughter), but sometimes a game can stretch over quite a bit of time.

A nice family game somewher between puzzle, ressource management (your meeples), chance calculation, luck-pushing, and "take that!" moments.
After having played with most of the expansions for ages, going back to just the base game was quite an experience. The base game on its own is much more cut-throat, as there are less tiles to fill "this certain gap" in your city... and as some combinations are not available at all, it's easier to block other players (and be blocked).

A nice skirmish tabletop game with gorgeous miniatures (I believe still the best I've seen).
Unfortunately, the 3rd edition had too many card-errata for previously published miniatures, and later units became quite unbalanced for gameplay.
It's sad that this game is no longer available (I never switched to the pre-painted 4th edition - which is dead as well). I heard that the miniatures will be re-released from another company.

The second edition rules function quite well, and the in-build time limit is nice - but somehow the second edition seems to make a lot of the (really big!) map obsolete.
Bidding for alliances is a nice addition, but there isn't much to force players to act accordingly.
If two players want to gang up against a third, and are not allowed during one round because of the outcome of the alliances-auction, they can just sit tight and wait for the next round - because the third player won't be able to afford forcing the alliances for long...

As a kid/teenager, I played MB's HeroQuest and roleplaying games.
And just when I thought "They should do a game like HeroQuest again", FFG published DOOM and Descent.
The game looks beautiful, and compared to HeroQuest offers far more tactical depth. It was also refreshing that the Overlord is a real opponent for the hero players, and not just a storyteller or the guy to bring the hero fodder into position.
There are a lot of different characters to play (especially with the expansions), with different stats and special abilities. A lot of skills bring even more versatility, as do the different special items that are to be found in the dungeon. This all adds to the replay-value of the game. Even if you were to play the same scenario again and again,it will be with a different group of heroes every time, and they all will need their very own approach and tactics.
Some people complain about the game being too long, and I can see where they are coming from - but I don't mind playing for hours when I'm enjoying myself.

A nice enough game if you want to play "Settlers of Catan" with just two players. But as there is no common board to built on and block other players, this game pretty much comes down to a simple dice-rolling luck-based game.

I played collectible card games before and therefore am familiar with the concept of deck-building. Finding the deck-building process turned into a game on its own was a nice idea - and actually a wonder nobody thought of that before.
The game works very well and I enjoy playing it relatively regularly - but for a higher rating, it needs far more player interaction.
Player interaction is an important component in collectible card games, and it's a shame you don't see that much of it in Dominion.

As good as the base game - but the choices on the action cards might be a bit too much for a first game. I suggest to introduce new players to this game with the base set, and later use Intrigue as well.

As a kid/teenager, I played MB's HeroQuest.
And just when I thought "They should do a game like HeroQuest again", FFG published DOOM.
The game looks beautiful, and compared to HeroQuest offers far more tactical depth. It was also refreshing that the Invader Player (the evil guy) is a real opponent for the marine (hero) players, and not just a storyteller or the guy to bring the hero fodder into position.
There are a lot of different skills for the marines that bring versatility into the game. This adds to the replay-value of the game. Even if you were to play the same scenario again and again,it will be with a different group of marines every time, and they all will need their very own approach and tactics.
The game can be really tough for the marine players (especially when inexperienced), but can easily be tweaked (more health/ammunition/armour) to make it a bit easier for the marines.
Some people complain about the game being too long, and I can see where they are coming from - but I don't mind playing for hours when I'm enjoying myself.

A good "euro game". In addition to ressource management, you have the combat rules - which makes the whole game quite complex.
It is actually far more complex than I thought it would be. Because of the theme and style, I expected an easy and light hearted game, with about the same level of "complexity" that games like Munchkin have.
The illustrations look funny and the rules are full of jokes, which makes it easy to have the wrong first impression of the game. For this reason, my first game of Dungeon Lords was quite unsatisfying, as I had "wrong" expectations. With my second game, I knew what I would be up to - and I enjoyed the game.

A dungeon-crawler in card game format - although you do build up a game board with location cards.
I like the glory/peril mechanic, and the interaction between players you have thanks to the curse & monster cards you use against other players (thereby making a DungeonMaster/Overlord player redundant).
The illustrations look beautiful - which they need to, as they are the only medium in this game (no miniatures but thick paper foldups instead).

I love the theme of this game, and it is easy enough to explain to new players.
In my experience, the game tends to drag on a bit, because everybody tends to build up his houses, just to loose everything very quickly because of thief cards and traitor allies.

A very nice game, with easy to learn rules and relatively short play time due to the fixed 7-rounds duration. As with a lot of "euro" games, this one has nice game mechanics and forces you to ressource management - but as with a lot of "euro" games, player interaction with "take that!" moments is quite limited.

If you remember "Scotland Yard" from childhood, add the Dracula theme, rules for combat between the "hunters" and Dracula and his minions, and generally a bit more complex game play, and you have "Fury of Dracula". As with most FFG titles, this one comes with nice artwork and just looks beautiful on the table.

I love the book series of "A Song of Ice & Fire" and therefore this game was a must-have for me.
A very good strategy game with nice game mechanics.
I would highly recommend to play with 5 (or 6 with expansion) players. For a 3-player game, you probably should look elsewhere.

A nice 2-player strategy game. The one-sided blocks are a nice way to simulate "fog of war" and unit strength.
Beginners might find it hard to remember all the special rules, like crowning a king etc.
There is quite a portion of luck involved because of the action card draws for unit movement and dice rolls for combat. But you still have the feeling that you could count bad luck in as well, and position your blocks accordingly.
That nobles returning home for winter might switch sides is a neat mechanic and allows players to try to get back what they lost.

Played this one and its first two expansions through a couple of times as a kid/teenager. It was a great adventure game experience, and the first of its kind for me.
Meanwhile, especially when compared to modern games of the genre, the rules seem to be a bit out-dated and game play too simplistic. - But it still holds great nostalgic value for me, and it is the perfect introduction game for the genre, as the rules are easy to learn.

The game mechanic with its 7 (?) epochs and the drawing & distributing of Empires provided a satisfying game experience for me, as players lagging behind could catch up with a good Empire in an epoch, and players in the lead could be given a small Empire with hardly any conquest power in order to more or less hold them at their current level and allow others to catch up.
We played it quite often back in the days, and kept a score sheet to determine the overall winner after a couple of games (best of 5 or something like this).

I like the Aarklash-background from Confrontation, and Hybrid does not only use this amazing background story, but also Rackham's beautiful metal miniatures.
Hybrid is a great 2-player skirmish game, that might not be among the fast-paced ones, but certainly among the tactically engaging ones.
The game is overflowing with flavour text. Most of the game cards come with a lot of background text that might (but not must) be read to add more story and a feel for the game's background.
As was typical for Rackham, not only the miniatures look very nice, also the overall artwork of the game board sections and terrain markers is amazing.
