Not much to it. Draw events and place on appropriate location, then resolve adjustments to attributes and then see if you meet the event requirements which basically determines if your required attribute is equal or higher than the ones listed on the event cards. Then draw, place or move current character cards to new locations. keep follwing the order till no event cards are left on locations. Most cards give special abbilities and adjustments to your characters either immediately or after the event is won.
I tried for many plays and many hours to try and like this game, but sadly, it's just not possible. Even when stacking the game in your favor, it still doesn't work. You can tweak it by setting up the manner the way you want instead of random, eliminating camera tiles or adding more search tiles or defense tiles, you can remove the higher number Spawn Tokens, remove 1 or 2 colors from the lock codes, make a deck of equal amounts of color coded items and it still doesn't work. It sounds fantastic when someone is explaining it to you, it looks fantastic with all of it's theme and pieces, but it just doesn't come together at any point in the game. You'll get halfway through, and then someone pulls the rug out from under you...every...single...time. High rating of 4 only because of it's potential.
This is a very simple game. Not much to do but roll and move with a few things to do along the way (steal jewels, go on adventures and buying "Gifts" from Gandalf. I don't like the use of the spinner. It's fun the first few times but is mainly for the younger crowd. It will not have any replay value after the first few games, but it's an easy game for the kids to pick up and play.
