Great game. A nice hand management game with strategy as a major component. Very easy to learn and teach. Secure resource tiles by placing settlement or cities via roads and use those resources to build more cities and settlements, can also buy economic cards to in crease resources or even an army. Enough depth to keep comming back to this game for hardcore gamers and not to complicated for the new or casual gamer.
Another great addition to an already great game. This expansion makes scoring farms a little trickier. Followers in the market quarter in Carcassonne are only moved at games end. (Although it says in the rules "when a player completes an opposing players city, road, cloister or farm" It is assumed you are using another expansion that lets you scores farms as they are formed as opposed to scoring them at games end.
I loved this game when I was younger. I enjoyed this one a lot. Rules were broken down to add options through later scenarios to make the learning curve a little easier. Had a lot of different units and abbilities to use. Very cool design. I thought this one was done very well.
Operational level War board game. I missed the opportunity to play this back in the 80's and I tell you I wish I didn't. This game has some very well written, clear and concise rules if not the best by VG, excellent combat system and the game really captures the feel of this war while still managing to be fun and not tedious like most simulations do. Clearly one of my new favorite games.
Not there best looking game, but this is a blast to play. Choice of text is questionable, should have been larger. Overall, not too difficult of a system. Reminds me of GDW's Trenchfoot, not a historical simulation but a great experience none the less. THE definitive Beer & Pretzel game.
Great Sci-Fi game. Rules are written fairly well. I just had some minor gripes the way things were worded. Advanced and optional rules will add even more depth to the game play. Very well done. A lot of book keeping during turns may deter some, but it can be done simultaneously with everyone. I also think that the book keeping element truly keeps this game from shining. Game length should also be taken into consideration as the bigger mapped scenarios can take several hours to play.
Great expansion. Adds new characters, items, villains and mechanics. There is a lot of dice rolling for the base game and expansions, so it may turn some people off who don't like to use dice for randomization. It's a nice overall game that has a lot of theme and a high replay factor.
