07/25/2013 Played it with 4 people again. Gameplay still Munchkin-like but it goes faster; played it semi-correctly this time (though one issue came up which the rulebook wasn't clear on). The game really needs an FAQ or an errata section since there's quite a few special cases. After this second play, I think 7 is the highest it'll get.
07/19/2015 Thinking about selling this off along with "Tools of the Hero Kind"
Definitely makes the game really interesting, especially with Khorne's new upgrade to gain 2 VPs for every figure killed, though I did like the cards from the base game a little better since it was really "here's me screwing with your perfect plan".
Best tabletop skirmish game I've played. The rule set is a little daunting but honestly, once you understand the turn structure and even the main basics of movement, close combat, and the iconographic phrasing system, everything else falls into place since they really set up the way Earth Reborn works.
Still want to get it to the table so I can actually get to the SAGS.
Fun game, takes a bit of time, fairly easy to learn. However, ain't worth the $100 MSRP, $150 CSI markup price tag. A $60 game at most and that's being pretty lenient. Would play again, ended up preordering it despite my reservations.
Also, WAY too much hype on BGG right now. Doesn't deserve to be in Top 10. Somewhere in the Top 100, sure, but not 10. Thought about adjusting my rating down to '1' until it reaches ratings parity but people would just call me a troll if I did.
Got to play with one of the alien races (Descendants of Draco). Some alien races are more equal than others.
Plays similar to Twilight Struggle. But more complicated than TS, which is a minus. Playing as the US is WAY harder in Labyrinth than TS; so much so that it's practically a minus. Can see the complaints regarding the "ideology".
Still haven't finished a game of it, which is frustrating. Even more frustrating is that none of the games got the rules right. Considering how rarely it gets to the table and how incredibly complex it is, I've been considering selling it or trading it for something else. Haven't decided but it's been weighing on my mind.
Fun zombie survival horror game. Can seriously get dice fucked but it seems like the dice provided are loaded, so replacements would seem necessary. In SirHandsome's words, a 'fun game to snack on'. In fact, I'd say LNoE is a much better game to snack on than Nexus Ops. However, it really helps to have an experienced zombie player or else the humans just have a boringly easy time.
Definitely would play again.
Update: Hmmm... it definitely requires an experienced zombie player or else the humans win pretty easily. Also heard the expansions make it way harder for the humans.
Command center is broken. Will probably buy a replacement one day.
Pretty easy to learn, the command center--in hindsight--is pretty gimmicky. Haven't played it in years but I'm pretty nostalgic for it, so maybe I'll fix it up and bringing it to a game night sometime.
Currently my favorite board game. Really math heavy but it's not a problem (I'm terrible at math). Combines a lot of great mechanics to form a fun and incredibly competitive game. Never win but who the fuck cares?
It's been getting onto the table more since Benelux goes incredibly fast. Still trying to get the other maps going.
Did a few solo plays; seems fun though I really want to play with 4 players.
Finally played 4 players; wow, great little game. So glad I bought it. Sure, it's a "cube pusher", but it's really quick and the special roles give you options. Once I receive "Pied Piper", the variety for Rattus will be pretty staggering.
Played solo and suspicion mode with 4 players. Still think 6 players is the way to go since that guarantees 2 guards and 4 prisoners.
Not as long/involved as BSG and slightly more involved than The Resistance, but I'm thinking it's a decent in-between game if you don't want something as long as BSG or something more complex than The Resistance.
9/6/2013 So it seems that the people (including myself) who paid for the deluxe pack just wasted our money because everything that was included with it only at that level and above is going to be included in every other tier. GREAT THANKS A LOT GUYS #fuckyou
Guaranteed that I won't back anything by them ever again.
Pretty epic game though there are a lot of rules to keep track, so not completely sure we played it right. Playing as the Free Peoples is pretty difficult, and it's easy for the Shadow to completely steamroll them.
Also, the white battle dice that come with the game suck so I replaced them with 1 set of 5 blue and 1 set of 5 red.
