Great game about the election in 1960 between Kennedy and Nixon. A lot of flavour and theme. The game is pretty simple. You send your candidate to different states to gain votes or you can trigger different historical episodes that will help your candidate. There are also other aspects to manage like media. The only thing I wish was better is the debate, I don't think it is important enough and it should also be a better "build up" to the great debate. I think this could be fixed with a great houserule though.
One of the best Knizia games for me. The mechanic used to bid on the land areas works wonderfully. I also think it is cool that before the 2nd part of the game, people lose their areas, and you have to bid again to get them. It makes the game tense and interesting. **Update; it didn't hit the table in 7 years so I let it go. Maybe I will regret it, if so, I will just buy it again.
This is the best partygame for me. Played with the right people no game makes me laugh harder than this one. I hate players that try to be funny though; players that write crazy answers on purpose. That's not funny! One of the best things with this game is that there is no limit when it comes to creativity. Awesome game.
I have played Bang! a lot during the last year, and it is a game my gaminggroup loves. The game has a lot of theme, and the hidden roles works very well, along with the different characters. There are also some cards that is really fun, like the dynamite. It is not the most elegant game, and sometimes the game drags, but still, this is a winner! 10 points!
Simple, addictive cardgame for two players. It is basically poker where you have 9 hands. Hard decisions. I also like that you have the possibility to end the game quick, as a knock-out. Compared to Lost Cities it is a good thing you don't have to do the tedious counting of the score at the end.
The ultimate stacking game. Jenga used to be my favorite game in this genre, but now Bandu (Bausack) is the new king. There are so many different blocks to place on your structure, which gives the game a lot of variation. The blocks are beautiful, and I always want to take a picture of the winning tower. The game is simple, but a lot of fun, and there is also some tactics thrown in (auction). A must buy.
This game is just FUN to play. You explore a house and all kinds of nasty stuff happens to you. Then suddenly one of your friends, or you, becomes a traitor. After that, you follow a storyline and get a condition on how to win the game. The perfect game for Halloween
Played it only twice, but I was very impressed. I liked the mechanics a lot, and to me this is the best worker placement type of game. It is maybe a bit too long, and theme is kinda boring. But it is a very good game.
Generally I love push-your-luck games, and this one is the best of them imo. To see your friends draw two elephants out of the bag is great fun, and it makes me laugh every time. The monkey is a nice twist to the game, as you have the chance to swap it with any other player's top tile.
Wonderful two player game. Great components and cool mechanics. Fight your way through the dungeons if you are the good guys. If not, kill them as the demon! Tactical warfare for two players in a pretty short time.
My number one two player game. Great theme, and the agents are awesome, especially the Master Spy (an agent that lets you win if you lose ha ha). Great quality of the components too. Underrated game, probably because of the high luck factor.
If you like games with different powers for different players, then this is the game for you. There are tons of aliens to choose from and the replayability is very high.
This is just fun to play, where you attack other players to try to establish five colonies on their planets. The attacker/defender have the possibility to invite the other players to support them.
Cosmic Encounter is a hand management card game where you have to know when to play your best cards. Sometimes you will be lucky and have great cards, other times your cards sucks. You have to make the best of it, it is as simple as that.
Underrated 2 player game. It is usually very tense. Two of my favorite mechanics are included, memory and bluffing, so how can I not like this one. One cool thing is that a game of Dracula can last from 1 minute to 40 minutes. Might be a 10 for me, time will show.
Very solid game. Had high hopes for this one. But unfortunaltely it's still a bit too long for my group. I also think that the fighingmechanic is a bit complicated and long, and there are MANY bits to set-up and keep in order in Eclipse. Sold it.
My favorite game of all times. The setting with the different houses (families) on an island fighting for the power is a great theme. I love backstabbing and alliances, and this is THE game to play if you love those mechanics. I had the first version plus all the expansions, but traded it away and got this one. I just like to think this one is better, and it also probably is.
Best "betting" game for me. Should be played by poker players. It's a game I never play just once, I have to play it several times in a row. Overall this is probably the game I have played the most. Would love to play this game for real money. ** Update; almost played this game to death now, is by far the most played in my collection.
One of the games I have played the most. A very luck dependent game, and sometimes you can get very unlucky (start with a terrible hand of cards). The only thing I don't like is that is a bit annoying to count the scoring, it is not too elegant.
One of my favorite games, since I am very fascinated by the Second World War. I am a proud owner of all the expansion, inclusive the famous bag! Easy rules and great components and it is very fun to recreate history. The set-up times does take some minutes, but talk about WW2 or the game and just get in the spirit for the game while doing it, and you'll be fine. I am looking forward to introduce Memoir '44 to my gaming group and have entire evenings playing this game.
Awesome game were you fight to gain victory points. Little time for turtling as you get points for being aggressive. I also like that it has hidden quests. Equally great for 2,3 and 4 players. Pretty simple game and not wearing out its welcome. If you don't mind dice this is a fantastic choice if you need a game were armies go head to head. A big hit in our gaming group.
Good economical game. I really like how the prices of the resources changes during the game. Some of the rules feels tacked on, and I don't like that you want to be the second best player during most of the game. Still a good game with 3+ players.
Very tense game. Hard decisions to make. If you like auctions then Ra is the best game. One of my favorite games, and my best Knizia game. Still, I think the theme in Razzia works better and that's why it only gets 9 in my book(too bad Razzia doesn't have as nice components and that it doesn't include the catastrophe-tiles).
Maybe the best game for my gaming group this year. It reminds me of A Game of Thrones and Wallenstein, kind of a mix between those two. It is faster to play though. Nice bits too and thematic with the different samurai's and their speciality.
Great game with a great theme. The traitor mechanic makes this game very fun and interesting. If you like stuff like knights and King Arthur this is a must-have. The board and bits are very, very nice too.
Terrific game. If you ever want to play a tactical game with different characters/races in a pretty short time with short setup-time this is it! Love how you need to chose to use the cards; magic or units?
Such an elegant wargame. The planning phase is perfect, and is one of the best mechanics in any game I have played. The tower (used to resolve wars in the game) is simple and effective. And exciting! I had the first version of Wallenstein, but sold it to buy Shogun. But that game wasn't as good as Wallenstein, probably because I was so used to the german map and names. Now that I finally have the new Wallenstein in english with all the expansions this is a sure 10. Awesome game. Buy it.
Cool theme, betting on the horses you think will do best. It is a simple game, basically you bid (play the variant where the the bets are kept hidden), roll the die, and move a horse. It is also a bluffing game; try to make the others think you bid your best bet on a different horse than you really did. A great betting game by Knizia, along with Colossal Arena.
