Enjoyable card game with an educational twist. My 8yo handles in fine on her own. the 6yo has to play with an adult teammate (mommy). We have fun playing it, and the kids seem to get quicker at locating states each time. bonus.

An enjoyable abstract. very easy to teach to anyone. move 1,2, or 3 marbles at a time. push 1 or 2 of your opponents marbles at a time. If you push any off the board they're out of play. Last with marbles left, wins.

Great light fare for getting a game night started with a group of at least 5. 4 works but the more the merrier. This also great because people can join in and drop out a needed and it doesnt mess up the game. Also works well for broad spectrum of ages together.

A good card game with a fun theme fit. Fairly easy to teach but the various placement rules can be confusing for new folks. I recommend open hand play for several rounds as a teach aid. It doesn't really affect the fun of the game. The game also works well to help kids learn to evaluate multiple choices and weigh out their results in a theme and game that they enjoy.

The artwork is classic Doris. Though we do have discussions each play as to what exactly the meeples are. most agree dinosaurs but some interesting things have been spotted by folks when turning them.

A fairly light family game that is easy to introduce to non-gamers. My 7 year old grasped it very fast. The card driven mechanic makes it enjoyable and the actions associated with which card you choose can make for some interesting strategizing. We really enjoy this one when it hits the table!

Fun game but holy moley it can drag out. First game with 4 players was at almost 5 hours and I was at $5880 in earning. There were 3 players left. Myself with the entire southern half of New York, another player with the entire northern half of New York, and the third player with Jersey. The northern player and I decided to take out the Jersey player and then split New York in a partnership agreement to call it a night.

I really like the theme and the combat portion works smoothly after a round or 2. As is usual with these type of games, the count and math process at the end of each players turn is a bit tedious but it's all part of it... The bits could have been a bit smaller to make better use of the HUGE map and save some crowding. Later in the game we took to designating an area off board for players to place all there newly bought resources until moving them next round due to space constraint.

I love this game. Light enough for a quick filler and with enough strategy to feel like you accomplished something in the end. Heavily luck-of-the-draw dependent.
And you will be doing a lot of counting stats but doesn't feel like too much. I look forward to moving into advanced to add more variety.

A kids game that can be enjoyed by adults as well. A contest to be the first to build a complete castle. castles are made up of cards which picture corners or walls. each section will have a color and shape to it. adjacent cards placed must match atleast one property of previous card. Play an exact match to a wall segment of an opponents wall and blast their wall (and any color matching connections) down.
Quite fun and can be cutthroat.

Rating would have been higher had we been able to play the game "out of the box". Sadly, we bought a new sealed copy from Tanga. when opening it for the first time to play we found the clay was dried out. We grabbed some playdoh from the kids room but it didn't work too well. The game has a very enjoyable system to it but the poor materials made it unplayable. I have heard there may be a remedy to this issue in the pipeline somewhere. I hope so.

Update: The designer came through with replacement clay that seems to work well. Colors didn't quite match but he sent cards to cover that as well. great support. And my rating went up because the game is better with good clay!

An enjoyable game with a suprisingly fitting theme. A bit fiddly to set up and play but once you have it figured out it's pretty fast. The wind changes and icebergs make for some interesting decision making though we have found that sometimes you can spend the game hopelessly chasing a leader. Artwork is bright and colorful. A box (instead of bag) would make for better storage (I'm a shelf geek) but is acceptable for an obvious "labor of love" crafted game.

An all against one game of escaping Innsmouth. One player plays as a human trying to explore Innsmouth and rescue other humans. The other players are playing Deep Ones who spawn more and more monsters and try and stop the human. The deep one players also have the ability to spawn a terrible shoggoth which is very hard on the human but is luckily very slow moving. D&D collectible miniatures know as Darkmantles make great replacements for the shoggoth tokens. They are currently cheap and often sold in sets of 4 on ebay. you need 4 total to play.

A themed version of amazing labyrinth. The theme doesn't really add anything to the game at all except graphics. I have noticed trouble with my copy being difficult to slide the rows and columns as either the tiles are slightly large or the board pieces are too close. As I am a Tolkien head I am glad to have it in my collection but wouldn't recommend it for someone to go out of their way to get if they dont care for the genre.

A fun memory race game. Try to remember which witches are yours. Try to get them to their finish line first. It is suprisingly difficult to keep track of which are which with 4 players. Roll the die and move a witch forward. Roll a 6 and you can, instead of moving, secretly look at any one witch color. Land on another witch (by exact count) and that witch gets revealed to all players and moves back 7. You will find yourself hurting yourself and helping others. My youngest is actually quite adept at getting her own pieces bounced backwards so she can then move them forward into her finish line.

A decent light filler with a bit of push your luck. Theme is pretty shallow but fun in a silly way. Game is basically in 2 halves. 1st have everybody takes turn rolling dice to collect as many brains from the "brain pot" in the middle of the table. Once all brains have been taken from the middle players then take turns rolling and trying to maximize points in an opponents color that way the opponent has to pay brains back to the center. play to a color that is not in use (or your own) and YOU have to pay in. You get 3 rerolls total and must stay with results of last roll. Lat person with brains remaining wins.

This game, while being a decent filler is good to play with young kids to strengthen their basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication) so my rating of 7 is for mixed age factor but I give it an 8 for fun combined with some learning.

An abstract strategy game of trying to get your pawns across the grid to your opponents side. Of course they are trying to hinder your movement by setting up walls to force you around. You are doing the same to them. Thus the name of the game, because once your done the grid has become a maze of corridors. You can never totally enclose an area so it maintains the maze look. A fun game that makes you think since you have to choose between move a pawn or build a wall. Easy to teach.

A completely luck driven card game that has always been a fun light game for our family. The deck is dealt out entirely to the players. In turn each player places their top card face up on the center stack. If it is a regular colored rat, play moves to next player to play a card. If it matches color of the rat played by the previous player then a race to slap down on the pile ensues. Winner gets the pile. If the card has a number (1-4) then the next player has that many cards to play to get another numbered rat to show. If he gets a numbered rat, play goes to next player to do the same. If he doesnt get a numbered rat, the previous player gets the pile.

A good light family game! feels a lot like your standard roll and move race but has great components and best of all, a couple mechanics that throw in some fun! The ability to (once in a game) extend the race a bit so you can catch up. The many ways tracks can be built due to the 2 sided tiles, and best of all, the piggyback mechanic that allows you to stack your piggy (if you roll the right number) on the back of an opponent and be carried along with them.

Great for mixture of any age children and adults. Adults alone would find it boring after a few minutes probably.

Good light fun. I grew up playing soccer for years so this has a special place in my heart. It's sorta a soccer version of battleball. Should really come with a little soccer ball or something though.

An overlooked gem! If you enjoy spy vs. spy comics from the old Mad magazine then stupiduel is for you. The cards have different "things" on them that can be used to "take out" the other player when you are attacking or used to escape when defending. You need a bit of storytelling and a lot of creativity to enjoy. Some of the hardest laughter we've had in any game came playing this.

We have discovered that you cant play this with the same exact group every time or creativity can become stale.

Fun card game to play with the kids. 6 and up no sweat. They agree with the rating. They would like it more if I would let them do the optional rule of sweeping the matched sets of cards onto the floor. :-)

Black Industries edition. It's Talisman. It's a solid game that is a bit dated but is a good light gateway to fantasy genre games. A fun trip down memory lane for some of us. Roll and move and draw a card. With style! Get your sharpie marker ready to fix the counters though. those stink!

Fun game (as expected from the Kosmos line) played wrong the first time which caused a major win in my favor. I moved all animals and friend moved only hunters.
Once we figured out we were wrong it was more balanced.

An enjoyable abstract tile placement game. Can also be played as a solitaire game. Several variables included in instructions. We play with as young as 6 and it works well. Great for travel in the carry bag but can't play in the car, needs a table. We have even created a few different variations ourselves to match time frame we have with the kids.

I really like the co-op feel of this game. It works very well even with my 6 year old even though it's rated for 8 and up. We had a lot of fun as a family game and all got into the "save the earth" theme.

I like it because it fulfills one of my favorite themes. horror. and it is fittingly creepy in artwork, cards, and the whole game feel. I have only played as 2 player so far. I will admit going into it pretty excited about it so may have been a bit easily let down. It was enjoyable but didn't exactly feel like what I expected. From the instructions and basics it feels like a horror/mystery type game where you get to "solve" a mystery. but it's not. It's actaully a munchkin'esque "take that!" type game where first to 10 investigation (see level) points wins. Good card dynamics and spooky atmosphere but I wanted a bit more. Will certainly play again but back to the horror theme hunt.

A fun unique little family party game. Look at a page of inkblots and find things in them within the theme decided by a die roll. This one works well with our family but we all enjoy cloud gazing, drawing and creativity. If you don't enjoy that type of thing, you wont enjoy this. I can see that the game has replay limitations as there are not a lot of pages in the book but I don't see why there couldn't be a few dozen plays in it for the same group, which would probably by then be tired of it anyhow... take that as you may...

A pleasant game of island exploration. build up your tribe on an island then set them off in search of new islands to populate. they often end in sinking at sea. Easily picked up by all ages.

Fun light filler of pirating treasure ships. Plays quickly and is easy to teach. Have only played with 4 players but it seemed well balanced at it. The theme is a good fit for the mechanics. Enjoyable addition to my piratey goodness! It will make it to the table often.

An enjoyable take that genre game. A lot of choices and variety of cards. It can definitely draw out longer than the 10 minutes listed in the rules. Solid theme and I like some of the mechanics in the game like the wild lands where creatures can grab other people's items and run off to. Anyway, it's fairly easy to teach and our group has enjoyed our playings of it.

Kids only rating. The game is only for kids in the 8-12 range. the presentation of the dvd is done well and the kids enjoy playing. There is limited replay ability as the dvd is made up of 8 episodes that are fixed so you have 8 games in the box. Just give it to another family when you're done!

A game of set collection cards. The theme is rather thin but does make it interesting. Would be boring with just regular cards. Very easy to teach but the graphics are a bit too gory for very young children. Though they could play it easily enough if it weren't for the images being a bit too intense. (bloody throats, etc)

What can I say, the family and I love these fast noisy gamewright games. They are perfect for quick before bed treats for the kids. We have a stack of them in the closet right at their height and they love to take turns picking from them. Best of all walmart carries them, so easy access and cheap! We have made a slight variation of this so the 6yo can play along. we take turns instead of sametime play.
