French Asmodee portable edition from www.levalet.com which I absolutely love. Have my eye on the Face2Face Feb 2007 edition. This is a classic game that definitely belongs in everyone's gaming collection.
I remember winning the 3rd Grade Chess Championship. My prize? Mickey Mouse glow-in-the-dark calendar, how cool was that? Also remember in 5th grade going to a chess club and our teacher was from India. Each week one of us got to play him. I beat him and he kept asking how I did it and what book I read. I've never read a chess book nor do I ever intend to. Chess is just a fun game for me. Then I came in the top 10 in elementary school in 5th grade. The championship was organized by the librabrian a big chess nut. She had a live size board with students dressed up to move as the two battled it out. Oh yes, I really suck at playing since it's been awhile since I've played. Come on elementary students...game on. I'll play a game of chess with ya!
I knew I shouldn't have played the demo. Pre-painted miniatures but with stats on the base and also details underneath the base. I have 2 starters, 1 vinyl mat, and 6 base boosters and 6 baxar's war boosters. Ok I've played this game a good number of times and it's awesome....replayability is through the roof. Absolutely love this. Ok I love this game...it's a 10. I can say that after about 30 games. Can't imagine this ever getting old and with new creatures coming out all the time it's awesome.
This is a fun game. Not quite as good as Tichu but it's a tad different but fun fun fun. These extremely nice tiles I'm sure you could come up with a nice advanced version of Coda (Algo) to play too. I may have to get this one someday.
Bought my version July 2006 in Japan at Toys R US for 2500yen about $22. It's the 2006 Edition...cheaper than Funagain $40 and also gamesurplus $30. I've played the original and this one and to me it's the same fun experience. Grandparents can play with their grandkids.
Holy cow I think our 2nd game with 2 player only took 20 mins. Once everyone knows what to do this guy flies like the mother ship to the homeland. Played 3 player and this is a pretty sweet game. I like it better than Alhambra even though the two aren't that closely related.
Played twice now....ok this game is hard to wrap your head around first time for sure but once everyone gets it after 3 or so rounds start over and play the game. I thought Samurai scoring was difficult to explain...this one is a humdinger for sure but great bidding system I love it. Most likely will go up after some more plays. I'm guessing 4 or 5 is best though.
I initially had a bad attitude going into this game. I even refused to buy it but after some comments by some gaming buddies I had no choise. I was glad I did I like it quite a bit. Trust me this isn't solitaire stuff like Princes of Florence is...not even close.
