Sacrifice to Amun-Re which determines income your farmers produce for you. Build temples for victory points and score bonus points for meeting certain criteria if you hold a power card. I suck at this game but love it so so much. I love the mathematical calculations one must do when your buying resources.

Own Sac Noir edition. Prefer variant bidding with 10 beans for each player. Either bid to 'not take' and every bid loses whatever they bid or bid 'to take'. Starting bids can be zero. Some pretty amazing structures can be built.

Probably introduced this game as a gateway game to over 25 people and not one hasn't liked it. If you explain it well they'll get it. First game though it's just a learning to get an idea of what value of the cards should be. The values are different in a 3, 4, and 5 player game. Obviously 5 player games you see 40 and 50 million bids since it'll be lower scoring and more competition.

Used to have original edition but got travel edition instead for portability. Travel one just doesn't have places to put 10 walls for each player. But it's large enough to play with. I prefer the travel edition which is 6" x 6" x 1.5". For a 10 min quick abstract doesn't get much better than this and Hive.

Great contention for majority in temples. I love capping unguarded temples even if they're only worth 5 points. Much of it is a psyche out your opponents and intimidate them.

Played it again this time with all the correct rules and now I quite like this game. It's funny because had I not got it for $20 with free shipping I know I wouldn't have bought this. Now I'm really glad I own it. Replaced crap plastic poker chips with nice Caesars Palace heavy poker chips.

Play with at least 8 or more players that know each other at least a little bit. Best game for large family reunions.
