Excellent design marred slightly by luck dependent combat. Using 5s and 6s reduces the frustration immensely.

Superb game - was a little worried about the amount of dice rolls when reading the rules but it doesn't detract from the deeply interwoven theme, although this is coming from a self confessed Mythos addict. Excellent!

In a word: stunning. Absolutely perfect implementation of miniatures style wargame in an affordable, easy to store format. Not much else to say except well done to Your Move Games - this deserves to be an absolutely huge hit.

What can I say? Given the price related to the amount of times this has been played and enjoyed, I would have to say that it is one of the best games that I own. It is very simple to pick up and explain, and soon you will be bidding viciously against friends and family to secure those projects! A killer game!

The more we play, the more we appreciate the superb mechanics. The struggles provide real conflict and interaction, and its as thematically strong a game as any Lovecraft fan could hope for. The artwork is absolutely incredible and on the whole is consistently superb. A real feeling of helplessness is always felt by investigators going it alone against the forces of darkness, but likewise a nice sense of achievement is felt when they are beaten back to wherever they came from...

Absolutely superb game that never gets old! Brilliant mix of luck and strategy with excellent production values. A superb gateway game but enough depth for experienced gamers too. Fantastic!

Excellent empire-building game with a nicely narrative feel and lots of clever mechanics using the multi-talented Event cards. Basic version is excellent when there are space issues, and Deluxe is superb if you have a table to play on as well as the time to get all of the components together.

Events can sometimes be way too harsh, especially in the first Era. I think I had a case of beginners luck the first time I played, as I survived to Era 4. The next few games saw the destruction of my miniscule empire in Era 1, thanks to Attacks and Earthquakes.

For a print and play game, Pocket Civ is of especially high quality. Absolutely excels, and I would be more than happy to pay for a boxed version (solitaire empire building games are thin on the ground) - and the fact that this is available totally free is the icing on an already very appetising cake.

Can't say I had any enjoyment playing this. Definitely the weakest title in the Hip Pocket range.

Board games like this normally leave me cold. Roll the dice, make compulsory bets, very few options. Strangely, we have a lot of fun playing this (three laps so it doesn't outstay its welcome). The social interaction, rather than the game mechanics, make all the difference.
