ImperialAsia.zip (1.89 MB) (Solve captcha above to download.)
Asia expansion map for Imperial version 1.0. This expansion is made available to the BGG community with the express authorization of Mac Gerdts, designer of Imperial. Thanks also to Peter Hawes who gave me permission to use his Colonial Diplomacy Map as a starting point for this map.

Map looks good but some territories are too small.

Thanks. Yes, some of the territories are pretty small. I really can't think of a good answer for how to include the French SE Asia empire with the necessary five regions and make those regions much bigger. The same is true for the Ottoman Empire regions.

To respond to Kris (the original poster), the problem is it's hard to see how the variant works until you actually play it. First step is to download the map. Second step is to figure out a way of blowing it up to a reasonable size, mounting it, etc. Third step is to play it. I imagine most folks who have downloaded it are, like me, still stuck on step 2.

Seriously, this was undoubtedly a major effort for Greg to put this together and he should be commended for it.

As a follow up to the last post, I have mounted the Board and started to look at this version of game. So, a couple of thoughts/questions/suggestions for Greg:

1, There is some water area west of Japan, east of South Korea, that is unlabeled. Is this a separate water area that can be controlled for a tax chip or is it perhaps part of another area, such as the Sea of Japan?

2. Seems to me the colors are mixed up. For this version, Japan (which is the counterpart to UK in the regular game) should have the red pieces, given the potential for four naval factories and just one land factory. Not sure how this should affect the turn order.

Any thoughts?

(1) That "sea area" west of Japan is supposed to still be part of the "Sea of Japan" sea area. It's not very obvious but that was my intent.

(2) I mainly left Japan as 'Green' (Italy) in order to maintain the turn order I wanted. You can try it switched if you want to see if Japan as red works better.
