This is the gamebox for 1861: Railroads of the Russian Empire

1861 is based on the 18xx series of games by Francis Tresham. Designer Ian D. Wilson claims that the mechanics of 1861 are largely drawn from the game designs of 1837 (by Lonny Orgler) and 1841 (by Federico Vellani).

Further information about 1861 can be found at the publisher's website:

This gamebox by Robert Farthing
(c) 2007 (original)
(c) 2009 (version 2)

Changes in Version 2:
1) Fixed problem with SPW tokens
2) Increased size of map, track tiles, and company tokens to improve legibility.
3) Increased size of player card to hold 2 additional minor company charters.
4) Market value tokens are now smaller than station tokens for all companies.

This version includes a minor fix to the map on version 2. I changed the background colors of the home stations to assist players in the event that a station token is removed during a merger.
