11th October 2011

Version 1.18! As usual, the lyx file (a frontend to Latex) can be used to regenerate a reference sheet for any kind of combination, with or without annotations. I also join many pregenerated PDFs.

Plenty of changes:
- Updated for the revised edition of the Dark Pharaoh expansion. I will not maintain a sheet for the first edition of this expansion, but the rules are available in version 1.17 and lower.
- New references in annotations, which refer to official answers from the game designers or people that have access to the draft of the long-awaited comprehensive FAQ
- Official errata/clarifications for some cards (among them the infamous Kingsport Gate card "
- Other corrections (thanks to all who sent me or posted corrections) and rewritings.

As usual, I would be glad if you send me a message in case you see an error.

arkham-rules-v1.17.zip (729 KB) (Solve captcha above to download.)
'Bastille Day' 14th of July 2010:

- added a colour key section and a title!
- readjusted colours: green and yellow are now less saturated and darker, with a more "natural" look. The yellow is still pure but it is just darker and probably better than in 1.16.
- corrected Task/Missions (thanks jgt7771!) and added optional Mission sacrifice in Upkeep (Dunwich)
- some other minor corrections

arkham-rules-v1.16.zip (729 KB) (Solve captcha above to download.)
Updated version 1.16 with:

- Lurker at the Threshold expansion (brown)
- Black Goat expansion is complete
- New annotations with some of the comprehensive FAQ rulings! Unfortunately I haven't got the full document, however I could learn some major rulings in the FFG forums, which I incorporated in the document.
- Following many requests, I slightly changed the colour yellow to a more orangy colour, so that it is easier to read after printing.

As usual, there is many PDF, one basic, one for each big box expansion, one with all expansions and one with the annotations. Furthermore, the Lyx file is included, which will allow you to regenerate any box combination rulesheet!

Hope you'll appreciate it!

arkham-rules-v1.15.zip (626 KB) (Solve captcha above to download.)
25 June 09 : version 1.15

This is a major update, this time with an annotated version, which I wanted to do for a long time. Annotations are printed in file "arkham-rules-v1.15-all-annotated.pdf" as footnotes. The idea is to justify all rules that are not explicitly given in the rulebooks with a reference or a link to the FAQ, the official Kevin W answers mostly in the official answer thread or sometimes in other posts (for instance at BGG). I have tried to be as concise and exhaustive as possible, but may have missed some, so please let me know if you find some more.

Changelog:

* added the annotations: rules that are not explicit in the rulebook and were officially clarified in the FAQ, or by Kevin W in the forums (FFG and BGG) are now given in reference as footnotes. Annotations are a branch in the LYX file, allowing to switch them on and off easily for those who want to produce their own rules PDF.
* various minor corrections in the text

For the next version, I will play more with the layout, colours (text and background) and reorganise the branches.

I hope this will be helpful and you'll find it informative and interesting.

Original description:

A step-by-step rules reference sheet that includes game mechanism from all expansions, the latest FAQ and the collected rules clarifications from Kevin Williamson at FFG forums. A colour code is used for rules specific to each expansion (red for DH, green for CotDP and yellow for KiY).
I provide PDF files, but also the source file LYX/LATEX ( http://www.lyx.org/) that will allow you to regenerate the PDF rules for basic, all expansions or any combinations, using the branch system in LYX.

Wow, this is the definitive play aid in my opinion.

One question:
If an Arkham encounter states the "a monster appears" or "a monster and a gate appear" and that is blocked by an Elder Sign or character ability, is a token added to the Deep One Uprising track? Or does that only happen if a gate opening is blocked in the mythos phase?

Thank you for the kind words. I have just uploaded v1.18 and am waiting for the clearance. It should appear soon.

Regarding your question, I would assume the rule is the same in both cases, but am not 100% sure. If it is so, this means I would need to update the reference sheet! Thanks for pointing out this, I'll try to find an answer.

EDIT: I found this thread: http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_foros_discusion.asp?e...
I think you are partially right, an Uprising token should be added whenever a gate is prevented form opening, so that should apply to an AE event too. However this would only apply when "a gate" or "a monster AND a gate appear", not when just "a monster appears". Version 1.19 to be done then!
