Dragon Hordes Variant Rules.doc (25 KB) (Log in or Register to download.)
This is more than a variant... it's a whole new set of rules using the cards from the Dragon Hordes expansion. This new rules set makes the Dragons more balanced and integrates them into the original game much better. Give these rules a try and let me know what you think!
**Make sure you also print out my additional notes on this Variant in the Comments section.

After some playtesting, you should add these additional notes to my Rules Variant for Dragon Hordes:
1) Flame Cards placed in Nations don't act like Wizards (the nation can still attack and be attacked) but are discarded when you lose battle instead of discarding a tribe member. They're like a "free kill" and go to the discard pile instead of the victor's victory pile. They cannot protect other cards from Catapults (nor Flame cards used as such).
2) Any Flame Cards in a nation are discarded immediately when that nation no longer contains a Dragon for any reason.
3) Any Flame cards in a nation are discarded at the end of each round.
4) Dragons cannot be placed into Mercenary armies.
5) If forming a Mercenary army would cause a Dragon (or Dragons) to be in a nation with currently no other non-Dragon members, discard that Dragon (or Dragons.

I hope this clarifies things a bit. Sorry I didn't get this in the original. Soon, I'll post an updated version.
