Fantastic little program.
As I was testing it for approval, I had a couple of comments...

Maybe it would help to have a labeled "counter graveyard" place where you can drag the used counters? There wasn't any mention in the documentation about where to put those counters or how to manipulate the inventory. It took me about 20 minutes to figure out how to get everything to work.

So, as a friendly recommendation, I would like to see better documentation of how to play the game. You have some great features (being able to include different decks, etc) that I only stumbled upon while fooling around with it

Other things that would be on my wishlist (see - now i'm getting greedy) - is a way to dump the cards used in each game to a txt file or memo so that I could later challenge someone to beat my score using the same cards!1

In any event, it looks great!

48 and 49 points.

Dale, you can always remove counter by clicking on them and chosing "remove" from the context menu.

Great work!

First score: 36

The scoring seemed to total grain wrong, but this was easily self-correctable on the score sheet--nice feature, among many.

Thanks again.

What version of flash does this require?

I wonder if I can get it working on the Wii via the Opera Browser, which only supports up to flash player version 7.

UPDATE via edit:
No luck on the wii. The Cover Art appears, but the play button does show. Must be a newer version of flash.

You can pre-order it from A-Man Games. You'll get animicons and some bonus files. You pay when it goes to code. Should be done with beta-testing by April.

Kudos to the creator, this is a very good way to familiarize yourself with the cards in the different decks and how they work together, and it's an interesting challenge to plan out your strategy for the duration of the game. It only takes like half an hour to play one game to boot, unless you're getting a lot of analysis paralysis. Of course some cards are pointless or lose some of their function in a single player game.

FWIW, some high scores after an afternoon of playing:
52 w/ the E deck
50 w/ the K deck
45 w/ the I deck (only played one game, my 2nd solo)

Now, it's entirely possible I've accidentally given myself advantage over the game there somewhere so take them with a grain of salt. Although, I suspect it's equally likely I've given myself a disadvantage by accident by removing too many resources or whatnot.

I'm running it with Flash Player 9 in IE on Windows, and I don't see any cards. Everything else seems to be there, and there are 3 areas for MAJOR, TRADE, and MINOR cards, but they're all empty (well, the TRADE and MINOR sections have checkboxes and Shuffle buttons). Is there some trick I'm missing?

You have to run the Flash such that it has access to the text files with the card information with them. Extract all the files from the zip to a folder and open the flash file from there. It should work for you from that launch point as long as you keep the relative file structure intact.

It seems the points depend a lot on the cards you get. With really bad cards it seems to be possible to get around 50 points. With decent cards 70 is not too hard and with perfect combos one can achieve more than 100 points. I just scored 105 points (I had 1 extra clay, 2 extra stone and lots of extra food after the game, too), but I must admit I reshuffled the occupation and small improvement decks a lot.

I dont see any reference in the rules...

The "E" Decks are Entry-level or Easy. They have the most basic cards, with simple benefits & little to no interaction between the other players.

The "I" Decks are Interactive. These cards are more complex to play and they confer moderate benefits. The majority of them contain some form of interaction between the players. So, using cards from these decks generally will affect or require other players.

The "K" (or "C") Decks are Complex. These have the most difficult requirements, but they generally confer the highest benefits back to you, while also interacting with your opponents.

IMO, the E cards are well suited for solo play, but you can achieve higher scores using the I & K (although much of the benefit of these, particularly I's, can be lost as many cards require your opponents to trigger them).

After about 10 games, I just realized the game doesn't total the "other" box. Is this listed somewhere, in-game or on BGG? I must have missed it.

Anyway, I'm glad I'm not doing as poorly as I thought I had been. Everyone's posting these 50+ scores, and when I thought I did well I still was in the 40s. Throw in the Well, Chief's daughter, etc... and I'm in the 50s for some of my games too. Whew!

The bonuses are included/listed just fine, but they're not added to the final score. This is fine; only that I had been erroneously assuming that they were.

No complaints, and thank you again for this great program.

That's one of the rule changes for the 1-player game. Only 2 wood on that space instead of 3.

Also, adults need 3 food each harvest instead of 2. (Newborns still need 1.)

Finally, you start with no food.

thanks for this nice programm! spares a lot of "footwork" when playing Agricola solitaire ...

the version I downloaded today however still doesn't add the VPs for improvements to the total score

and: I couldn't find out how to keep an occupation for the 2nd and subsequent rounds - which is one of the features of the solitaire variant.
can anyone help with this?

cheers - tobias

Could you make it an executable application? Because I cannot play it. First time I ran it, I just presented by opening screen, and no means to continue. I managed to get second page by choosing play on the menu. Seems no problem? Not really. Family members never show, I cannot drag and drop anything at all. Maybe it's working, but the visuals never show me, so I didn't know if it's work or not. Next Round button still work, adding other action cards, but that just it. Scoring windows is cropped, and I don't know how to work around it.

I suppose this should because of my player. I downloaded the latest flash player plugin (ver 9), and still no result. I uninstalled my Macromedia Flash (ver MX), and installed swf player, and get the worst result. I really don't know how to play this file. So, if you could make executable application, it would be nice.

Edit: Nevermind. I just found out that I could play it with browser. And it works perfectly fine. Thanks for the great program.

Yikes!! I've been playing with adults needing 2 food.
No wonder I got scores like 50-60 and was wondering why everyone here listed lower scores

Amazing app. The only thing on my wishlist would be a way to stack the round cards, if so desired. Hypothetically, of course.

There should be a stables button (icon looks like a monopoly house?) on the far left list, near the bottom.

As a general point, I wanted to apologise for the lack of updates to the software - I'm working part time and trying to scrape together rent whilst being deafened by incessant violin playing. I've got round to tweaking the bonus scoring (so it should work I think), and if I get a mo I'll try and do some of the other requests too.

Also I'm hoping to release my software version of Year of the Dragon - with AIs - when/if I get permission from Alea (it's ready to go).

Sound is a nice feature and adds to the feel of the game. However, a mute button would be wonderful as I like to listen to podcasts while I play.

Thank you for doing this. With cats and children in the house having the ability to play solo on the computer makes it quite practical.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere. Could someone tell me how I could play this on the Wii Opera browser? Any info is much appreciated, thanks!

Im think this was mentioned elsewhere briefly in another thread - but I can't find it now! I think the solution was to upload the file to a server and connect via the Wii Opera browser. I can't say much more, but Jeff Stahl (jstahl) and jrbentley (I think) have managed to get it working ok.

If you succeed, would you mind describing it here?

Thanks for making the game. It's nicely done.

I think a good feature that would be really useful for playing the ongoing solitaire game would be a lock button for each occupation. This would allow you to shuffle only the unlocked fields so you can keep your occupation. This would also allow for players to use a specific number from each deck a way I usually play at home. (eg. I use 3 from E 2 from I and 2 from K usually) You would just lock the cards in all but the slots you want shuffled to do that scenario. But, thanks again for making this saves me a lot of clean up time .

High Score for Round 1: 60 points

Not suitable for learning the game. Looks very sharp, but can't replace the real McCoy for a new player.

I agree. I am not sure how I am going to shuffle my final occupation in the series I am finishing here.

I am also not sure how to handle the Grocer....

First of all thanks for this nice flash version of agrisolo.

I have a suggestion: it would be nice to have an agrisolo family version option, that is, playing without the minor improvements and occupation cards.

This is not possible at the moment because of the board layout. The actions that would need an alternate version are:

1) Starting player and Storehouse (1 food cumulative)

instead of

Starting player and/or minor improvement

2) Build Stable and/or Bake bread

instead of

1 occupation

3) The Day Laborer should provide 1 food and 1 building resource

instead of

2 food

Thanks and keep up with the good work!

I wouldnt mind seeing what the maxium points possible using only the family version of the game would be...

Including the family version would be a cool feature in this...

thank you very much!

This is such a fantastic app. Thanks.

It seems that there are a few Occupations from the I-deck that aren't in the list:
Bricklayer
Chamberlain
Clay Hut Builder
Clay Plasterer
Corn Profiteer
Cowherd
Layabout
Market Crier
Milking Hand

Also, there are a few new cards for the 2nd printing that aren't included:
Occupations: Guildmaster (E deck), Rancher (I), Animal Trainer (K).
Minor Improvements: Feed Pellets (E), Clay Deposit (I), Pelts (K).

Technical help please!

When I open up the zip file and start the .swf app from the zip folder it runs. When I extract the file to a folder on my hard drive and try to run it from there I get an error that it can't read the first character of line one.

What setting do I need to adjust?

Thanks,

Strange - provided the relative file structure is retained and the filenames are intact this error is a new one on me! When is the error generated (within flash, or in windows trying to open the .swf file)?

Could you post a screenshot of the error message and of the folder (contents) where you run the .swf?

Awesome!! I've only had a chance to play this game in person twice and have been itching to play ever since. This is perfect until I save up enough cash to buy it!

First solo game...34. Hmmm I guess I need some more practice!

I had a similar problem. This knowledge base article (Method 1) helped me:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934366/en-us

I had to create the registry key before I could add the DWORD.
Hope this helps.

Thank you a lot, agricola solitaire is great!!!!

I found a little bug i guess, the score function doesn't add I deck Churc Warden's 3 victory points for making 5 action in turn 14 (it doesn't even show in bonus point box, it lists 0 ).

My top score in solitaire has been 64, but i really had a good cards draw

First solo game ever: got a 41 quickly playing a "pseudo-family" game (without non-major cards, but without the family actions).

But I think I found a bug in DEFAULT scoring. I had 1 unused plot and the score defaulted to 2 in disuse. Of course, I could correct this myself, but wanted the maker to know, and see if anyone else has seen this.

Thanks for the software!

Fantastic work. I have just one question, after 4 games in 60 minutes. How do you make the fences rotate sidewise, or otherwise indicate that a pasture is fully fenced? Not a big deal, though the auto-scoring mechanism doesn't recognize my workaround for this....

(To rotate fence: double-click it)

I'll second the praises for this great piece of software. My best scores in 3 series so far, E+I+K cards, no re-drawing: 67p in Game 1, 96p in Game 6 of a series (Games 7 and 8 were lower as outstanding Improvements do not re-appear).

The bug still remains: the list of Occupations and Improvements that is actually drawn at random seems quite shorter than the one in the real game. It misleads the player that the real game is as easy and less varied (as most better cards DO show up). The Fence Overseer, Church Warden and such get to appear too often this way...

It shouldn't be. Two things to watch for:
1. Make sure that the last line in the file is the word "end"
2. The program reads in the info line by line so the blank lines are important even when the corresponding information is absent. e.g. (for a made up entry)

line 1 = german name and unique reference = Klapper
line 2 = displayed name = Clapper
line 3 = deck = K
line 4 = requirements = 2 Occupations
line 5 = cost = 1 wood
line 6 = vp value = 1 vp
line 7 = summary = Offspring: 1 Grain on Grain Fields
line 8 = details = Whenever you use a "Family growth" Action space (or already have a person on the space when you play the Clapper), place 1 additional grain on any of your fields that already contains at least 1 grain.

So, each object must have 8 lines to it, with a line space to the next object. Edit in notepad (basic text editor) to avoid any strange characters being added by MSWord for instance. Please mail me if you are still having trouble (in case I DID hard code a limit somewhere in a moment of madness)...

If you can reproduce the bug and email me a screen shot of the board layout I can take a look.

It sounds like you need to upload it to a website and then play it. I'll upload it tonight if I have time and post the link here for you.

I'm also curious how to get this to run via the Wii. That would be nifty.
I also would appreciate a family style version if it's not too difficult.

I found a bug in the scoring for the Schnaps Distillery (I deck). When I turn the Distillery off my score is 62 pts, on it's 64 pts. The Distillery is worth 2 pts, but I think it should also give me bonus pts for my fifth and sixth vegetables for a total of 4 pts.

Great program.

Thanks for making this--it's a really nice little interface which works wonderfully! I just played my first solo game on the wii and thought I'd post here to let others wishing to do the same. I uploaded the game onto my dropbox, and put the url into a url-shortening service. If you want to play on your Wii (or 360, or PS3, etc.) just point the opera browser to is.gd/agricola
