Hellenica+.pdf (2.48 MB) (Log in or Register to download.)
5 CCA home-made scenarios of the 5th-4th century BC Greek World. The first 2, Thermopylae and Mycale, during the Persian Wars, the 3rd during the 1st Peloponnesian War (Tanagra), the 4th right after the 2nd Peloponnesian War (Cunaxa), and the 5th the Spartan rebellion during Alexander's campaign in Asia (Megalopolis). They include ambush forces, units changing sides, free leader setup... and a bit of Greek History!

I have finally added the units with the same graphic style than the official scenarios. I used my Spartan labels for the spartan armies but you can, as the War Council says, "use Roman blocks".

EDIT: The VASSAL module including these scenarios can be found HERE.

The descriptions of the scenario design and play can be found here:

The Cunaxa file has been deleted. Re-reading the Anabasis, in this new file I have slightly reduced the amount of cavalry (I replaced a Persian/Rebel cavalry unit by a foot one).

Thanks Alex,

if you want to know how these scenarios fill the gaps of the official list, check this chronological list I made.
The file Graphic_Scenario_List_Variant.pdf includes my 15 scenarios.

Hi Miguel, thank you for your great inspirating scenarios, is it possible to update the amazing 5 land battles with the new 5 strong spartan blocks that came out with the 6th expansion and made any general modifications to upgrade the "Hellenica" overall?

Thanks Alexander. Indeed these battles were part of the material around which Exp6 was created. Some were not selected and some were, and the latter were more or less modified by RB.

Even if I like more mine, I think from now on I'll play the official ones, so I don't plan (nor have the time) to make changes to these ones, I don't want to have three different versions! And for those that were not selected, maybe one day they could appear in C3i, with the new Exp6 units/rules.

Thanks for playing them!

Hi Miguel, i just played Cunaxa with my 10 year old son and i believe that it is a magnificent scenario! one of the best, one question only regarding the Euphratis river, is it passable or not? we played that as an impassable river.
ah! and i replaced the Greek blue blocks with the red allied Spartan blocks and of course the Spartan polemarch Κλέαρχος to look more authentic
i love the instant win rule by killing one of the Persian Kings, it represents historically the 'air' of the era. Too bad that Cunaxa werent in the official scenarios, it is after all a crucial battle that affected positive the Hellenic historiography.

Thanks Alexander!

Yes, the river is impassable. Indeed, river tiles are impassable by default, if the special rules don't say otherwise. Only the more recent ford tiles would be passable by default.

Yes, I agree that not having Cunaxa in the official list after two Greco-Persian expansions is weird... It is the scenario of my own that I have played the most!
