When rolling for Initiative, the Minus icons (and Bellows, Lungs, and Wings) count as well.

"... [Y]ou see, you use different moves when you're fighting half a dozen people than when you only have to be worried about one." - Fezzik (Andre the Giant), The Princess Bride

Multi-player rules do not use minus types for initiative, probably because breed immunity makes things messy. You could work out all the effects and immunities just to end up with a one-way deadlock or a tie that depends on players who didn't participate in the tie.

Two-player initiative includes minuses. Still, I suggest using the multi-player initiative method even for two-players instead of trying to rationalize why wings and gas don't work when there's more than one demon in sight.

Thanks for the comment. Did you use this cheat sheet to teach the game?

I never noticed that before. I've also learned that the rules aren't written to be as technically acurate or comprehensive as some game's rules are. Whether minuses were intentionally left out or accidentally left out is something I'd want to ask Lester about to be 100% sure, but I'll take that part of the rules as written for now.

It is a bit inconsistant. I've always assumed that the initiative roll is made without considering what dice make up each demon - its just a roll to see who gets the most initiative results.

No, I taught myself the game about two years ago. I made my own turn sequence/faq guide (I should upload it sometime). I haven't found anyone yet that wanted to learn it...
