Some clarification: the discard token means you can discard one card from your hand or from any columns of yours. You cannot discard the card that you have opened the column with (the card placed very first in the column) but you can discard any other cards.

To clarify further, if you land on a discard token you can...

- discard a card from your hand, or

- discard a card from any one of your melds. It has to be the last card played into that meld (i.e. the latest card in your sequence). It can be the foundation card if you have only a one card meld.

So it's just the opposite what was translated originally? Can it really be the foundation card? Thanks for the info!

Yes, a friend of mine who speaks German kindly checked that passage in the rules for me. She confirmed that the last card played into any meld can be discarded, with no restrictions on it being the first (and only) card in the meld.
