World at War: Sea to Sky. Add units of United States Marine Corps, the 3rd Infantry Division, 82nd Airborne and 101st Air Assault Divisions, as well as Soviet self-propelled artillery and airborne support vehicles and helicopters.

Includes unofficial rules for helicopter transport, self-propelled artillery and augmented firepower for elite infantry platoons.

World at War: Sea to Sky - Countersheet 2 adds optional extras to the Sea to Sky expansion - extra support weapons, a hypothetical 1st Marine Tank Battalion formation, airborne formations and helicopters for the US and the Soviet Union for larger airborne operations, and new close air support options.

Also included in the PDF are optional and unofficial rules for ATGM minimum ranges, alternate AP firepower and observation aircraft.

For Countersheet 1, click on the Files section and then on the file for waw-sts-v1.1.pdf.

THIS FILE IS NOT THE FULL EXPANSION. IT IS A CORRECTION. OPEN THE FILES SECTION AND CLICK ON THE DOWNLOAD FOR THE FILE ENTITLED "waw-sts-v1-1.pdf" FOR THE FIRST COUNTERSHEET.

Corrected counter backs for the HQ units of TF 2-30 and TF 3-64.

This download is only necessary if you have already printed and mounted version 1.0 (now removed) of the World at War: Sea to Sky expansion. If you have version 1.1, you do not need these corrected counter backs.

Print onto label paper, cut out and apply over incorrect counter backs. Apologies for any inconvenience.

waw-sts-v1-1.pdf (3.04 MB) (Log in or Register to download.)
VERSION 1.1 replaces VERSION 1.0

World at War: Sea to Sky. Add units of United States Marine Corps, the 3rd Infantry Division, 82nd Airborne and 101st Air Assault Divisions, as well as Soviet self-propelled artillery and airborne support vehicles and helicopters.

Includes unofficial rules for helicopter transport, self-propelled artillery and augmented firepower for elite infantry platoons.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When printing the countersheet PDF, make sure that you do not have "shrink to fit" or "scale to fit" selected in the Print Scaling options. This will result in undersized counters. Printed size-as, the counters are correctly 5/8" (15.875mm).

World at War: Sea to Sky adds units of the United States Marine Corps (3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment "Teufelshunde"), the 3rd Infantry Division (2-30 Infantry Regiment (Mech) and 3-64 Armored Regiment), 82nd Airborne Division (3-325 Infantry Regiment (Airborne) and 3-73 Armored Regiment (Airborne)) 101st Air Assault Division (1-502 Infantry Regiment (Airborne)), as well as Soviet self-propelled artillery and airborne support vehicles and helicopters.

(click for enlarged images)

New units include USMC: M60A1, LAV-25, AAV-7A1 and AAV-7A1 with Upgraded Weapon System, AV-8B Harrier, AH-1T Sea Cobra, UH-1N Huey; US Army: M2 Bradley IFV, UH-60 Blackhawk, OH-58 Kiowa, M551 Sheridan; and Soviet: BMD-2 Airborne IFV, Mi-8 "Hip" and 2S1 (a.k.a M1973) self-propelled artillery. Also included are M1 Abrams, M3 Bradley, M901 and M106 vehicles previously seen in World at War: Eisenbach Gap, but reorganized here into new formations.

74 counters in all.

The PDF includes unofficial rules for helicopter transport, self-propelled artillery and augmented firepower for elite infantry platoons.

A second countersheet adds the LAV-M, LAV-AT, M1A1 and extra helicopters and BMD-2s, as well as an extra Soviet Airborne formation, an additional Air Assault Company and special HEAT-FS support ammunition counters for the 2S1 SPAG.

Click on the file downloads at the top of this page to download.

Countersheet 1: waw-sts-v1-1.pdf

Countersheet 2: waw-sts-v1-1-countersheet 2.pdf

IMPORTANT NOTE ON PRINTING:

Ensure that when you print the countersheet page (page 1) that the Print Scaling option is set to "None". If the print scaling is set to "Fit to Page" or "Shrink to Page" you will get counters which are smaller than required. The counters should measure 5/8" (15.875mm) when printed.

Thanks, everyone.

I should mention that I have spotted errors in the countersheet that I will fix on the V1.1 pass.

- The morale for the reduced HQs of TF 2-30 and TF 3-64 should be "7", not "6".

- THe speed of the TF 3-64 reduced side HQ should be 6, not 5.

Post other errata here or in this thread:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/390769

Sorry for the mistakes... I don't know how I overlooked them. For people who have already printed them, I will make up a two-sticker mini-sheet that you can print out to paste over the incorrect values.

There's some minor wording errors in the rules following the countersheet as well which I'll correct at the same time, and I'll also add the Order of Battle formation listings at the end. Any other errors that show up, please let me know.

Version 1.1 posted.

Corrections & Additions in this Release:

- The morale for the reduced HQs of TF 2-30 and TF 3-64 has been corrected to "7".

- The speed of the TF 3-64 reduced side HQ has been corrected to "6"

- Transport capacity circle added to landed side of Mi-8 Hip helicopter.

- Amphibious movement rules added

- Optional Missile Depletion Rule added

- Optional Advanced Armour Rules added

- Formation Orders of Battle (OOBs) added

- Minor typographical errors and awkward wording corrected.

Careful readers will note that some of the units listed in the OOB (such as 3-325 and 1-502 81mm Mortars and the entire 106th Guards Airborne) do not currently appear on the first countersheet. I will be adding them to the second countersheet, which will be posted as a second file to avoid large file download sizes.

Apologies to anyone who downloaded and printed version 1.0 already. I will post a small addition file with corrected counter backs for the TF 2-30 and TF 3-64 HQs, which can be simply pasted over the incorrect version 1.0 counters.

... and of course, despite careful scrutiny, some minor errors popped up even in this improved addition. The 3-325, and 3-73 OOBs list three formation markers - there are only two, of course.

Also, morale numbers are not listed for 1-502, 3-325, 3-73. They all have morale 8.

A tiny typo under 6.1.2 - "T-71M1V" should be T-72M1V".

None of these affect the counters, fortunately.

Very nice Christopher. Printed, mounted, and cut them today. I look forward to getting them on map.

Not sure if already in the works but how about a CH-46 or two in subsequent counter sheets to carry the Marines in no-mechanized scenarios.

I may be able to squeeze them in on the second countersheet. I'll see what I can do.

Chris,

Printed these out and had a go at mounting them yesterday. They look good. I covered mine with that glossy self-adhesive plastic you can get for covering books and it makes the counters feel like the B+B ones.

Only problem I had was that the HE firepower underscores are so close to the counter edge they often get chopped.

Is there any chance you can put a 1mm border all around each counter? That makes it easier to get all the counter on the card as trying to glue the counter fronts and backs to the card with sub-millimeter accuracy is a bit beyond us normal (and old) folk

Also - why do the Helos have underscored HE firepowers? They don't need them as the rules say that can shoot with the stated factors anyway. And why have them for a hovering or landed Helo anyway? Just a thought.

Also - do you do requests?

I'd like:
A West German LuftLande battalion, complete with Pumas, Krakas etc
x3 more Brit Chieftain Companies
x3 more Brit Challenger Companies
x3 more Brit Infantry companies with FV423s and/or Warriors
Brit Paras
Brit Royal Marines
Brit Airmobile troops
Brit Territorial Infantry Company with Saxons and/or trucks
Brit FV438s with underscored range NOT underscored firepower (stock typo)
Danish kit (M41's etc)
Dutch kit (Centurions, Leopards, YPRs etc)
....I'd better stop now

Cheers Chris. Keep up the good work,

Bry

Actually, I put as much space between the edge of the counter and the underscore as I could. If you look at the PDF, you'll see that they're pretty much touching the bottom of the firepower numeral in most cases. The problem here is the original design. Due to the positioning of the numbers as laid out on the counters, both the WaW:EG and B&B counters often have cut-off or nearly cut-off underlines, even on professionally die-cut counters.

On future sheets, I'll elevate the firepower numeral a bit so that there's a tad more space on the bottom.

Quote:

I underscored their HE firepowers because I figured it would be good to remind people that you can do moving fire with the HE factor. To be honest, I don't know why the B&B and EG helos don't have underscored factors.

Quote:
And why have them for a hovering or landed Helo anyway? Just a thought.

None of the helos I've included in my expansion have a "hovering" mode - only landed and flying. I've underlined the firepower in both cases because in my optional and unofficial rules, transport helicopters may fire immediately before loading or unloading, and then may move, or may move and then fire immediately before loading or unloading (see 5.3.1 and 5.3.2 of the Transport Helicopter rules included with the PDF download) - thus they can essentially do moving fire. (this rule was included to provide transport helos to provide a limited amount of covering fire on dust-off and landing)

I do indeed do requests, but right now I'm working on Chinese, North Korean, Australian and New Zealander units.

Oh, in other news, I've completed and submitted the second countersheet mentioned in the first post to the BGG mods, but they're quite busy and haven't approved it yet. If you're itching to get your hands on the second countersheet, send me a PM with the e-mail that you'd like the file sent to - it's around 1.6 MB in total.

I've also submitted the corrected TF 2-30 and TF 3-64 counter backs, but they're similarly in approval limbo. They're a much smaller file at around 25k.

Once again, send me a PM with the e-mail that you'd like either of these files sent to, and I'll try to get it to you ASAP.

Christopher,

Don't know when you will see this sir but I just re-read 9.7 0bservation Aircraft rules and noticed there is no mention of the observer airplane and air superiority aircraft some scenario's have. I would recomend that if the opponent pulls a air superiority counter and the owning player does not have one to counter it the observation aircrat, if an airplane and not a helicopter, should be removed right then. Helicopters could always hover by some trees and wait for the jet to leave but if the fighter spots the observation plane he will try to kill it I think. I suspect the pilot of the observation plane would get out of there as fast as he could flying between the trees and hills to hide.

As always thumbsupfor the work.

Regards,
Keith

Great work on the counters. I love that you included the Sheridan.

Has anyone done any scenarios for WaW: Sea to Sky? I poked around a little bit but didn't find anything.
