Addendum
Ad 1.b) Map details
South America
Lesser Antilles has shared ownership between Britain/France/Low Countries; all may enter without a conflict arising until war is declared.
Guyana has shared ownership between Britain/France/Low Countries; all may enter without a conflict arising until war is declared.
Europe
Lapland has shared ownership between Norway/Sweden/Finland/Russia (i.e. all may enter without a conflict arising until war is declared).
Finland will allow placement of 1 Russian infantry without conflict and Russian land units may pass to and from Lapland.
Yugoslavia/Illyria borders on Hungary, Austria does not border on Rumania/Dacia.
Africa
The river between Cyrenaica/Egypt is not the border; as it is the Nile and therefore runs through Egypt alone, consider the fertile area between Cyrenaica/Egypt the border between both territories.
Asia
There's an omission in "Japanese territories are Bonin/Rykus/Formosa (1 infantry each). Also place 1 infantry each in /, not
affecting ownership, but China may not build naval units there."
For "/" read "Hopeh/Shantung".
1.d) Turn order
1. Germany
2. Italy and Axis Minors (see Designer's notes at the end of this comment)
3. France and Minor Allies
4. Britain
5. US and China
6. Russia.
ad 2. IPC values
Captured primary industrial sites permanently become secondary industrial sites (so the IPC value is reduced by 3). They do not revert back to a primary industrial site if recaptured by the original owner.
ad 3.b) Pillboxes/fortifications
Pillboxes/fortifications may be built by any power at war for 2 IPC, each giving 1 infantry a +1 defensive roll modifier. (Sorry, only 1 pillbox per territory.)
ad 3.c) "Ships in port are safe from naval attack. However, they defend at 1 against air attack. Regardless, air attacks may still be intercepted by defending fighters in the area. In addition, all ports have AA defense."
After "in the area" add "(i.e. in the same or an adjacent territory)"
ad 4.a)
Please note that oil fields at sea are ignored for all purposes.
5. Pacific crossing
The Pacific is the largest of all oceans; to account for this all crossings from one side of the map to the other (using the connecting arrows on each side of the map) will cost 2 movement points.
(Ignore any double movement cost for the Sea of Japan or Western USA coastal area.)
6. Special units
Artillery may be purchased by any power at war for 4 IPC. Artillery attacks and defends at 1-2; attacking infantry may be supported by artillery to get a +1 die roll modifier. (On a 1:1 basis. Please note that supporting artillery does not advance, only supports infantry attacking into a neighbouring territory.) Only German artillery may be used for AA defense as well.
German SS Panzers attack and defend at 1-4.
Britain may build 2 Commandos (A/D 2).
The US may build 2 Marines (A/D 2, even when amphibious. Ignore the Mobile Infantry rule).
7. Exceptions to WaW rules
Ignore the Hitler assasination rule.
Ignore the Axis exemption from Multiplayer forces: Axis forces may use multiplayer force attack when Italy/Axis Minors are an independent player; Germany will be in command and multiplayer forces moved in the German turn. (Axis and Japanese units still can't multiplayer attack, but may enter one another's territory without conflict.)
Total US income at peacetime is 17 IPC. (There is no additional income for Lend-Lease or Economic Conquest until war is declared.) War is declared following a Japanese or Axis attack; if Japan attacks, war with Germany/Italy will result in the German/Italian turn.
Ignore the Chinese infantry pre-attack committal die roll rule.
Ignore the Russian Purges rule. Instead, Russia may not counter attack nor retreat on the 1st turn it is invaded and all infantry defend at 1 on the 1st combat round only.
Ignore the Russian factories may move rule.
MINOR COUNTRY FORCES
Low Countries: 2 infantry
Denmark: 1 infantry
Greece: 2 infantry
Baltic: 2 infantry (decommissioned if Russia decides to annex)
Designer's notes
As the 7 Ages map has no cutout areas along its borders for overcrowded areas, I've handmade some Army/Fleet cards from a piece of white cardboard, with titles "Army I/Fleet I" and "Army II/Fleet II" respectively, over 2 separate spaces for unit placement, with a central circle for owner's marker placement. They can be used both for army and marine/air fleet indication if a territory is too small or overcrowded and are quite easy to make with just a pencil, an A&A control marker, a liner and a pair of scissors.
If you have a copy of Europe at War, you can also play with Italy/Axis Minor Allies as an independent player by using the Italy/Axis Minor Allies player aid card for starting income/IPC/unit cost reference. Otherwise Italy and Axis Minors are simply included with Germany (and played in Germany's turn, obviously).
