Keep all those cubes organized, and help plan future strategy at the same time, in a streamlined presentation. Top row shows building costs per tile, next row is for storing food/automation cubes (keeping in mind that farms are self-feeding and generators auto-powering), last row is for storing surplus cubes, as well as showing an optimized tile layout for that particular type. Spaces included for labor pool, flags, and costs for special actions as well. Three resource mats per printout.

Great Mat. We tried to make the reference card work as a resource mat as well but it turned out too small for this purpose.
I like how you created an icon language for the resources.
I also like that everything has a place allocated to it.

Thanks Peter! I'm wondering if you are that nice gentleman who sold me his own copy of WON at Origins last year when it was the only one left? I remember packing it up from the demo table making sure all the little bits were there.

I've really enjoyed this game the few times I've been able to play it. Out of my regular group of gamers, 4 of us really got into it, one was too intimidated to even attempt learning it, and one fellow who chose a particularly poor strategy when he learned the game had such a protracted, miserable experience slugging it out till the end that he swore he would never touch it again.

Even those of us who love the game find the constant shuffling of bits back and forth a bit of a drag, and selling your back stock of commodities in the end game seemed rather drawn out, selling one at a time then waiting for the next opportunity. I did read somewhere you guys may be addressing some of those issues in a sequel, or expansion?

Nevertheless, the interactive experience is top notch. The first game we ever played we had to interrupt half way through to go watch Batman Dark Knight, and on our way to the theatre all we could discuss were the directions we saw the game in progress taking, how we thought our perceived strategies would pan out etc... I started working on the player mats right away, as I was having trouble visualizing my diverse needs (a personal failing, I've had to design many player aids for myself.) Your game was a real challenge (in a good way) because of the amount of information one has to process every turn. But I have the luxury of designing stuff based on my personal needs, and not those of a broad user base. It's only very recently that I began uploading the stuff to BGG, and have been very gratified by seeing people download them. To get a compliment from a member of WON's design team has definitely been the highlight!

Thanks for taking the time!

Eduardo (smobbit)
